Nice podcast again mates !!! Just 2 funny editing mistakes , Sam said he wanted an FF , and you show a 9FF 997 turbo S , and when the guest said he had a E63 amg you showed an e63 m6 bmw 😂 No worry's , these things happen , and i had quite a laugh out of it 😂 Keep going strong , guys!
You need to do this at Aston Newcastle with Tony. It would be hilarious watching Tony get hammered at his favourite brand by Northerners with a bit of cash 😂
Mercedes was ahead much of the last decade. That 2014 S class interior is still something special almost a decade later. I would say bmw is back in the lead. They make the craziest engines and outperform all the Germans, especially with a tune and exhaust. Audi is in the best spot they’ve been since the old V8 RS4. For the first time in my life I would take more of Audis current lineup over the new Mercedes. RS6/RS3/S8/RSQ8 are better than the new E class/CLA/GLE.
Yep, Audi despite dipping toes in E-cars region, their design is still mostly likeable, BMW design is kinda on the other (but not in the complete) spectrum but their inline 6 engines (B58 and S58) and V8 S68 is a reliability and powerhouse monster that people even ported to old BMW legendary chassis(es) because of sheer brutal power even with Simple boltons mods.
Was great to take part in the Podcast at Vines and to meet you agian Sam… Thanks very much for allowing the shout out for our channel…you’re a true gent!
Guys it was such a pleasure to meet you both and thanks so much for answering my question Sam! I recon you will start looking at fast practical cars when the baby gets a bit older! 😏 Tony really appreciate the business advice as well, plus come January you will be selling me an M3 touring 😀 absolutely loved the live podcast!
Audi for me as of now. And I say that as more of an AMG fan... Modern BMWs are ugly (although the best to drive), the AMG mercs have downsized to 2 litre 4 pot hybrids and Audi are still making the glorious sounding 2.5 RS3 engine that sounds like a mini V10 with cars that look decent. So that's why I'd side with them.
@@GazMoby I was referring to somewhere to hold a podcast ! Personally hate BMWs they are only useful to give to staff as company cars ! Along with Audis !
I would say so. The M3 / 4 / 5 especially are insanely quick and absolutely demolish their competitors. While not the best looking cars, their performance cannot be argued with. If we look at daily drivers, I think even then BMW are ahead there but definitely not as far ahead as the M division. That said, BMW do not have anything like the R8 or AMG GTR and now the RS3 / A45 haven't got a competitor.
maybe BMW will have something like the M4 GTS, shedding weight and increase the S58 power output to 600hp before EV models in 2026, which it could be the best BMW sendoff for its glorious ICE BMWs
I think getting out of a 360 for a bit until you get a stradale is a great idea, like you say it'll make it feel so special when/if it happens. Would be a good idea to get in to something that you won't lose a load of money on in the meantime.
As a cyclist and driver, couldn’t agree less about making London safer for bikes. Driving and London just don’t mix, that should be obvious to anyone who lives there.
Android auto or apple carplay? Was bluetooth not enough? My very first car had a radio with bluetooth installed by myself and it worked a charm. Only with newer cars I bought later I was stuck to the system they supplied. Nowadays, I have to do it with an FM transmitter because I bought a childhood dream car - and even this is perfectly fine if you find the right, empty frequency
I am afraid Sam, that the Future is underwhelming....whatever brand. Depressing. Apple play....wouldn't buy an Apple produce at any price...and not bothered about the Android version either....don't have patience to load music on a phone. Rather listen to the engine 🤔
As usual really enjoyed this, can i please ask that you use swearing, Father's love to watch this with their young children and would be far better without the bad language, it adds absolutely nothing to it. Please don't pile in on me it's just an observation
Just bought an e92 m3. If you had of asked me what I was going to buy last year or two years ago it would have been a golf r 7.5 or s3 or such. Merc with there 4cyl and Audi making the rs3 look like a3s.
Such a biased episode, I've been following your podcast since day one and it's all bueno except from this one, i mean i understand that bmw as a brand is huge and the m lineup is a very good proposition at the moment, but so is the other two big german brands, the rs6 and especially the rs3 has a huge following, also when it comes to Mercedes, they have a huge success commercially when it comes to their SUVs, and you can't just ignore the amg gt and you got to look at how they diversify their lineup, the 43amg has been a huge success even if from an enthusiastic pov you don't like it. I think that you should be less biased and more professional and informative in your judgement of other brands, saying audi is "heavy" it's like me saying "look that mountain is weirdly big".. your just stating the obvious.. nowadays everything is heavy, you said it yourself when pushing that new m2 in your video and that m2 that weighs around 1.8 tons is considered the "agile" M car in the lineup. Also if you watch any nurburgring or spa track-day videos most cars you see are either bmw or porsches, so i think it's a huge mistake to ignore the sportiness of M cars as a selling point and pretend that it is not why people buy them nowadays. I think you should do more track-days with tony and watch videos of people doing touristenfahrten around the nordshleife to really open your eyes.
But you saw the results of what people was interested in when they voted. You could see that majority wanted a BMW. That I can actually understand. I have always liked Mercedes but these last few years, I think they have made mistake after mistake, either in design or engine choice. Just a few years ago I was planning to buy a new AMG E53 Estate, but now I don't look at them anymore, because of their (in my mind) ugly designs, either interior or exterior, compared to Audi or BMW.
@@jakssdsfs even sam said the majority voted bmw because they are in a bmw dealership and most of those who are present are bmw fans, i mean you wouldn't expect a bmw dealership to let you host your successful automotive podcast while inviting Mercedes or Audi fanbase.. to rephrase what i said previously, Yes bmw are killing it right now but my issue was that i myself and many more in the comment section clearly saw that this episode was a bit biased, you might not like what mercedes or audi has to offer that is totally your right, but to slag them when they have been successful for many years especially from the mid 2000s/early 2010 up until lately is a mistake, the a45 and rs3 are the most successful super-hot hatches, the rs6 has a cult following and even sam bought one and i can keep going..
Lmao so true about the North, every single one of them outside the M25 should be driving a fancy car if not wtf are the majority doing with their lives? 😂
As much as I love the channel, only Sam can be so naive as to not actually seeing the war on cars and questioning it. There is absolutely a war on cars.... World wide. Just in London alone look at all the charges to pay even before you have travelled one mile. Some people with money and new cars should give there head a wobble.
Vines Gatwick is my local garage. Had a really good experience. Shame I couldn’t make this. Definitely looking at an i5 through work just undecided if i5 40 or i5 60.
Bmw is ahead. Their interiors are now the best. Mercedes interiors were the best design wise in their last generation of cars, but the current crop aren’t great. Audi completely dropped the ball in that regard too. Bmw design is always controversial when they come out and don’t photograph well, but they always tend to age the best, which is what successful design should be. For example, it’s hard to believe that e60 and e63 BMWs are 20 years old by just looking at them. Overall, I’d go BMW, Audi, Mercedes in that order based on their current line up.
In September 2023, BMW's new car registrations were 12,522, down 6.85% on September '22, MB new car registrations 14,486 up 44.85% on September '22, Audi were 18,783 up 47.25% on last September. Year to date BMW = 78,215 (down on last year), MB = 66,901 up slightly on last year, Audi 104,068, up 30% on last year so it seems like your perception (or the need to please your hosts) is not represented by the figures.
@@p.h.234 We all understand that. But when I hear E63 I think Mercedes not BMW 6-series. Unless they clarified with the owner and used that photo as a result, but I think its more likely to be an error.
Think you drank the BMW coolade. Yes I totally agree with Tony all the brands have their waves of popularity but BMW are only winning with the M3 and M2 as driver focused cars and we all have to agree they are fugly , none of their other products are in any which way interesting and the EV range are hideous. BMW’s interior are now on par with Audi and Mercedes but Audis RSQ8 and RS6 are cars people desire over a M5 or X5M even if on paper they may be better.
BMW are definately pushing the boudries with their new cars. They look different (great in my opinion) and are getting people talking. Mercedes have in some ways reverted to selling very conservative looking cars to very rich conservative people. Their design language is odd at the moment. Audi are hopeless and really doing nothing interesting at the moment. I think on the road, Audis are starting to look incredibly dated.
I think there's good and bad in all the brands and they have so many models, it's all swings and roundabouts. Currently BMWs engines, gearbox chassis are good but the cars look an embarrassment. The Audis look good and the RS engines are good, but the rest of the range is bland and everything is black. Mercedes is currently ruining the AMG cars (new C63 is an S65 but with a 4 pot) and the entire rest of the range is bland status symbols for me, so they're probably the worst ATM. Rewind 10 years BMW was the clear winner, everything about them was bang on really. Mercedes were much better than now but the gearboxes weren't a match. Audi better too but not as good driving as BMW, except the R8 which was perfection. Anyway the bigger point is 10 years ago the were all great and now they're mostly meh or crap. Of all the new ones probably thr only ones worth buying are the A45, CLA45, RS5, RS6, Z4 M40i, M340i.
BMW 👎for me, so freaking boring. Yes, they have stepped it up. I just don't like them and really wish we could stop talking about them. Just my opinion. See you in Melbourne 🎉
