This video is how to complete a brake flush with a speed bleeder. This expedites the entire process and avoids any errors that could add more time. This project is fairly simple! #bmwx5 #brakefluidflush
Tools Needed-
Turkey Baster- amzn.to/3IpMgc8
Speed Bleeder -amzn.to/3En5sVE
Brake Fluid Bottle- amzn.to/3DoNlgL
Brake Fluid- www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...

This project is fairly simple! However, it's important to some some basic skills when doing this.
NOTICE- Skipping steps or leaving things out since you are messing with brake can lead to injury or death! Please be careful and consult a professional if you don't feel comfortable.
By attempting this, you assume all risk and liabilities!

Just one comment. You should not always "top off" the master. As the pads wear, the fluid level will drop. Remember that the reservoir is just that...a reservoir. If you top off the fluid, the next time you replace the brake pads and push the caliper pistons in, that fluid is going to spill over the reservoir and get everywhere. This of course won't be an issue if you're replacing the caliper, but most of the time you won't need to.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting that Brembo recommends bleeding the inner half of the caliper first, as BMW recommends bleeding the outer half first, which makes sense to me. BMW also uses a different sequence for the corners, which may be due to pipe runs and their length, but possibly it just doesn’t matter too much. Very nice car BTW, incredibly clean 👍

Good video , if I change the rear calipers Only, I can bleed only the rear calipers or I have to do in all wheels?
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars 2 года назад
If you change rear only then you should really need to do the rear.

Thanks for posting this. Sorry if dumb question - the air that you would have initially in the hose going from the pressurizer to the reservoir, no issue with getting all that air through the system??
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars Год назад
Nope. Not a dumb question. The reason the air doesn’t go through the system is because there’s enough brake fluid in the reservoir and the air would rise anyway. The pressure the system is pushing the existing fluid though the brake lines. To prevent air from getting in the braking system, you want to keep the speed bleeder topped off. If that runs out of fluid, well, it would push the old fluid from the master cylinder out and continue the push air since there’s nothing leftover.

Quick question has I need to replace my rear brakes disc in 900 miles. Do I need to flush the brake fluid? If yes do I need to do all 4 or just the rear? Thank you
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars 2 года назад
If you’re doing the disc, no you don't need to flush. You only flush every 2 years or if you open the valve to piston and air gets in the system. If you’re flushing the system, I would go ahead and do all 4.
@kbesner
@kbesner Год назад
Sry, couple more questions! Hopefully they help others as well... :) 1. When you use the baster, how much fluid are you trying to remove? 2. You mention you don't want to run out of fluid in the pressurizer.....if it were to run low during the procedure, would you just release the pressure, open it up and add more to reservoir? That won't add air etc and cause you to have to start over? Thanks!
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars Год назад
I remove as much old fluid as I can with the baster. It will be replaced with the fresh fluid from the pressure pump. There should be enough fluid in the pump where you shouldn’t need to refill. If you do, then yes, release the pressure and add more fluid and then pump it up again. The pump is only there to add pressure to the brake lines. With the valves closed on the calipers, air won’t get in.

Hey mate, liking the video's I'm currently looking at a 16 plate x5 with full bmw history covering 34000 miles would appreciate your input it only comes with 3 months warranty and would like to know reliability, mpg etc as will be a daily driver only do around 6000 miles a year thank you in advance

Ok...so the residual fluid collected in the container from the bleed nozzle into the container...is that considered to be usable brake fluid or unusable at that point? BTW...very good video and thank you for your military service.
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars 2 года назад
Thank you! Thank you for your support! That fluid coming from the caliper would be old fluid and at that point is unusable. At a certain point during the flush, you’ll get clean fluid coming out but it’s better to be safe and discard it. The clean fluid in the pressure reservoir is what’s replacing it so any more that’s needed, I’ll add it to that container.

@EM Cars I drive a 2021 BMW X5 xDrive40i, M Sport Package...totally loaded. I was days away from ordering a 2022 BMW M5 Competition. After tons of research...I figured it would depreciate way too fast. In conclusion, it seems I would be better off opting for a well-kept used X5 M...your thoughts?

When you putting pressure before pouring the new brake fluid in the bottle doesn't that created air into the system?
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars 2 года назад
No, because the system is sealed with the cap. However, if the vehicle’s brake fluid reservoir ran dry and I was bleeding it at the caliper, then yes, you can introduce air into the system.
@VinnyS2K

@@eddiemcars does it matter putting the fluid first then put pressure or put pressure then fluid and pressure again like what you did on the video? Thanks
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars 2 года назад
@@VinnyS2K no I only tested it empty to verify it could hold pressure before adding fluid. I’d hate to find out the cap won’t hold etc or a hole in the line while I already have fluid in it. It could spray and more than likely I’d have to waste the fluid the figure out the problem.
