I don't think the announcers did a good job. Look at their reactions/analysis to Jaie doing a front nothing bike flip and Pat doing a cashroll tailwhip
Back in the day, 3's and bars were a big thing...then flips....then you were there, then whips...now, just wow! The combo's these guys do is what we did on some bmx game early and mid 2000's.
That’s exactly what I thought. I was kid doing this stuff on Dave Mira’s freestyle BMX 2 and thinking it was way insane and no one could ride like that but now they are haha
Excellent work by riders, mad skills, I feel like they riders are limited on what they can do because of park setup, layout and options available to throw down best combination of tricks, with limited time,
This new event was certainly cool. But it does not replace big air. I like quality over quantity. Would rather see some super polished tricks over the gap and then up the huge quarter pipe going as high as they can go and trying to land it versus doing a bunch of tricks in a line like mega Park
It’s too on key , he name dropped half the riders tricks in best trick last year before they dropped in to send them, totally killed the element of surprise.
On Daniel first run the commentator says double downside 360 . It was a single downside 360 but looked like he was going for a 360 downside superman but never got the legs fully out
0:52 Daniel Sandoval Lets see if anyone gets this reference "It stands for Sandoval, Yamanashi. Sandoval. Which translates for: If you call me Sandy again, I'm gonna cut your body in-half with a hubcap."
Why not just have a vert ramp instead...is the reason because Vert isn'r as popular as it once was, so less riders learn how to ride? Because it doesnt seem like the riders have issues riding here.
7:35 I watched very closely and it does not appear he tailwhipped the bike in the opposite first direction. It's confusing AF and hard to tell even when u watch frame by frame, but the tailwhip rotation direction of the bike is always the same way, it only sort of appears to flip because he waits until he is completely upside down to continue the last rotation, and when he's flipped upside down the same whipping direction is now reversed (from our point of view), but it's still the same rotation direction from his perspective.
You can see when he takes off, the back of his bike is going to his left, and again when he's catching it at the end, it's coming in from his right moving left.
@@justinmusicandskateboardin9282 The reason it looks weird is because the tailwhip almost doesnt get the rotation in and you can see him adjusting the bike to counter that. Which makes it look like a whip rewind. He might have even been trying to go for a rewind who knows.
@@Bmxicano2 Look closer, he DOES "stop the whip".... But he doesnt rewind it. Read my comment, i think he may have been going for a rewind but thats not how it turned out.
@@youtubedeletedmynamewhybother I did read your comment. Go see the replay on his instagram, you can see it clearly whipping back. On here it's cropped out you can't see it well.
@@BrassCovers I'm not arguing that they're interchangeable terms. I'm not sure why some BMXers have such a hard time understanding hierarchical classification. I got in a similar argument once where somebody was adamant that it was wrong to call a footjam a nosepick. It's like arguing a truck isn't an automobile, or an eagle isn't a bird.
@@MattHooverDotCom I agree, I don’t have an opinion on the matter, as I am merely a spectator, objectively enjoying watching R Willy come in as a roller blading scooter kid progressing action sports, all while receiving praise from most fans and atheletes, and animosity from some bitter or jealous legacy atheletes.
Windshield wiper was the name they gave the trick way back when it was invented. Ryan here is just doing it in the middle of a front flip and doesn't need to kick it back, that's why the announcer is a bit confused.
Where’s all the people? Also the ramps are for regular footed riders. What about the goofy riders? Hopefully they got extra points! Is Covid still a thing? I just went to a baseball game with thousands of people and we have these dink Xgames events like it’s not popular. 🤷🏼
