After collecting New Old Stock & New in Box fans for some time, my priority was more on how I kept my collections in top condition forever, rather than using them as daily driver. But there are times when I want some of my collections to be present in my daily life.
If you still remember, the National F-ES 402 is one of the fan collections for everyday use. Last January, I replaced my bathroom exhaust, a 10 years old KDK 20TGQ1 with this National FV-25TGU1. There was no problem with the KDK, however, I replaced it because I wanted to enjoy older tech and I also wanted a bigger exhaust, because this bathroom exhaust also functions to suck air from my room.
At first, I was a little doubtful whether this exhaust fan would last or not, because I thought this exhaust fan would still use bushings, but I was quite relieved because it turned out that it actually uses bearings too, so it could last a long time. Additionally, @TheFanUniverse testifies that his 20 years old FV-25TGU1 still functions perfectly even after being turned on for almost 24 hours!
After installing and turning it on, what I noticed was that the sound was much louder than the KDK. A combination of the sound of wind turbulence and the National's signature buzzing sound filled my bathroom and room. Then, if you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of the bearings. The suction power is also much stronger than the 8” exhaust.
What needs to be done to maintain the durability of this air sucker machine is to carry out routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, etc.
