The way he looks around at other people laughing with a smile on his face. All he wants is to make other people happy and it kills me that he struggles with making himself happy.
I will never be able to accurately describe how this song makes me feel. It's provokes such a great feeling of somberness and surrealness. This special will always be held close to my heart, and I hope Bo realizes how meaningful and touching it is to us all.
Bo was exactly what we needed when he released Inside. His reaction to his work from a fly on the wall perspective is amazing. He got to see it from a new set of eyes and you can see the astonishment. I think generally people don’t sing along at his specials. Especially his new one. So this was probably wild for him lol
It literally brought tears to my eyes when I saw the look on Bo's face, to see him smiling after everything he has been through in the last couple of years.
This is a really sad, honest and beautiful song. Bo is such an incredible talent and I was really happy to see him enjoying this perspective of his work.
I adore Phoebe and Bo with every fiber of my being. Both of them have brought me immeasurable joy in my life. I want to make art as beautiful and meaningful as theirs
I appreciate that the filmer didn't creep on Bo the whole time (just popped the camera over to see his reaction to something) and let him just enjoy the performance like everyone else!
Who ever filmed this give them an award for cinematography or something the quick look at bo smiling as others smile and laugh then the pan away as he looks away not just keeping the camera transfixed on him just a quick oh look its that guy huh cool then they continue on like bo was just another person in the crowd partaking in the event this is quite possibly the best videography Ive ever seen
Not only was this version profoundly touching, but i think It means so much more. I find It fascinating (and a little bit ironic in restrospect) that Inside has become such a phenomenon through social media, and specially TikTok. For us long time Bo Burnham fans, It felt like the farewell that we never got to have back in the day, and for new fans It meant so much, encapsulating the experience of the lockdown, anxiety and depression perfectly. This song in particular is so specific yet so accurate, an excelent take on modernity. I recomend CJ the X video essay on this topic and Inside as a whole. As someone who had anxiety and a deep existential crisis years ago, Bo helped me a lot, and im so happy to see people knowing the lyrics, and knowing myself that, even though he might never perform again, his legacy lives on. Im crying while listening the full version. Thanks Phoebe, thanks Bo.
I love that you're recording halfway through the song, not to prove you were there by filming the entire thing, but truly just a snapshot of it, and a quick look over at him. In the moment still.
He's just appreciating his art being appreciated without the anxiety of performing it himself... I love Inside and in a world where it's easy to consume media and move on I'll certainly not be forgetting it.
