Yah it was an easy beat, know ones missing that skip. No wonder y’all love him. He’s great don’t get me wrong, a living legend. But if you thought that was fast and 2.6k people agree with you… The crowd ain’t that tough. 👍 y’all would laugh at your own reflection.
I can't stop thinking about when bo had a panic attack on stage because fans were singing along, and decided to counter it by making up lyrics as he went
@@reagan985 in general. He was having these panic attacks which is why he dropped out of the comedy scene after make happy. Buuuut he did announce a special he made alone that’s gonna be released soon! So nice to have him back
And now he writes: "I used to make fun of the boomers, In hindsight a bit too much, And now all these fucking zoomers Are telling me that I'M out of touch?"
@@zoeknox2327 Oh no, he forgot someone's name that he's probably never met. I'm sure you've never done that. He asked what her name was like 10 seconds later in a very respectful way.
He's a genius and he's so real. The fact that he goes against literally every celebrity by saying "the system is rigged against you" and explains that he's "lucky" says so much. It's the tough love truth and I'm grateful someone is finally fucking saying it. The entertainment business is still a business.
Why is it a big deal tho, internet buddy? No complicated question here but doesn't everyone and their parents know that? It's not a tough love truth. It's a truth for everyone who is maybe older than 10... If that. 😶
@@GloriamMonarchia replying respectfully but not everyone internalizes it. Sure, they judge celebrities to the bone. But why are people like Elon Musk or Donald Trump idolized and made celebrity? What really is the worth is there to being known? So many people strive for it. It's like the conversation on whether or not billionaires should be allowed to be billionaires. A lot of normal people who vouch for billionaires do so because they feel that position is still tangible rather than, as Bo also puts it in perspective for being famous/a celeb, just luck. There's a lot more nuance to the concept and its relationship with our own humanity. And not just 10 year olds or children as you say are affected by it. I know so many grown adults who fall into that idea of celebrity being a real thing, just like how they believe buying lottery tickets might win them the lottery someday. That's the business of celebrity is people still buy into it. Magazines, tabloids, paparazzi, merch, marketing, politics.... it literally bleeds into everything in our culture.
yeah, i love how active his followers are. i didn’t know of bo until after he stopped doing comedy so it’s nice that there are still people to relate to now
i feel like there are a lot of us who only found out about bo after the fact and now we're obsessively searching for and picking through every clip of him that's out there like a weird flock of internet vultures
He’s always had issues regarding not being happy with his public appearances, there’s been many times he’s mentioned about enjoying making people laugh but not feeling comfortable with all the recognition such as tv shows that comes with it
Inside is far from the first special or show where that was the theme lol. Literally every single special and most of his songs cover how he’s not alright and trying to just laugh through it.
Could be that he’s just mocking all the rich pop artists who piss and moan about their problems in their music and seeing if he can get his own fans to show the same sympathy celebrity worshipping fans show for them . It’s not beyond his ability to come up with something like that. Or it could be that he legitimately deals with mental illness.
2:48. Well said Bo. So patronising and misguided when complete fluke luck pop products tell you to follow your dreams. Out of Millions of wannabe superstars, every year perhaps 4 will make it!
@@adventuresofgerradandjuban6822 I don't know, but in my experience, it's a rarity seeing somebody actually deserving to make it. Otherwise, the less talented you are, the more you're likely to succeed. It's frustrating at this point.
@@nacholopez1686 IQ has little to do with creativity beyond a certain point... He has wit and he's talented, but let's not assume intelligence is linked to comedic aptitude.
@@hughmann9568 I mean... good for you? What you think of the older comedians has nothing to do with the content of the comment. Regardless of your thoughts on their comedy, you should be able to appreciate seeing such a generational gap respecting one another through an art form that they hold significantly different amounts of experience in.
He does have talent. So do many others. He's saying, rightfully, that just because you have talent doesn't mean you will gain success. In fact, most talented people don't and will not. He got lucky and so did a few others. But the odds are stacked against you and you will most likely fail unless there's some other reason you'll be seen.
@@squigg7107 and there are many others who probably make Mozart level stuff or something but maybe no one goes to thir shows who knows and maybe they are in country where art doesn't matter so much.
In that video of Bo with the older comedians he's so much sharper and quicker than all of them, in the full video their comebacks are weak but still get big laughs form the audience and Bo.
also i just watched it again and i disagree, they were all great. "first comment i ever got was "go go gadget faggot" paul- "that sounds like it could be supportive" maron- "and honestly i meant it as supportive" bo wasn't just laughing to be polite, they were all funny, and gary shandling was amazing throughout.
@@ben-wg9se I mean I don't think they were bad - they just weren't on Bo's level imo. I think they have an older style of comedy also which I'm just less of a fan of. They have the more typical observational, comedic insult type of vibe. Whereas Bo has this more self aware, deeper and bit darker sense of humour which I think resonates more with younger people
I was at the USF concert when he replaced Pitbull and his song was great. There were quite a few people who had signs saying USF wasted their money on him. He laughed them off. I also got his signature after on a Dunkin box, so it was a great night.
Bo Burnham is the most original artist of his generation. I think the narrator did a good job of illustrating that as well. His shows are completely immersive. Multimedia performances. If you haven't seen him I highly recommend him.
@@shrimpguy2 Gary Shandling says: "That's so good....it's so good because it's so...MUTUAL" Was an amazing comeback. Gary Shandling then talked about being a fan of his after that.
I can't believe I haven't seen the clip of bo cussing out elsie fisher's theater teacher cuz I literally went to school there with her😭 Honestly nuts that she didn't get a part in whatever the play was, but the teacher is actually pretty nice lol
Every time I bring this up, I feel like I'm a horrible attention seeker for barely knowing someone who's famous. But like I actually find it cool to see bo talking about my own high school & teacher (even tho it's kinda stupid to get excited over that). But it's also cool cuz elsie is great
Bo is the only OG RU-vidr that made it big but is still doing what he wants creatively and never changing himself for others. I've got a lot of love and respect for that.
His success is not based on luck, he just being modest. The truth is he is extremely creative and he was bound to reach stardom. Not everyone has this gift.
He never misses a beat and it’s amazing! Knowing he was going thru severe anxiety during some of these moments and he kept just being quick and witty is amazing
The problem with famous people saying "follow your dreams" or "work hard" is - they're right. It does take that to succeed. However, it also takes an imperceivable amount of luck. I've never heard another celebrity in my life admit this.
When Bo says that the system is against you, he means it and it’s true. The industry doesn’t want you, it wants the person that is better than you. Talent scouts aren’t everywhere searching for you. They are searching for the best, but they don’t have a magic formula nor do they have the same opinions or experience or expertise. And they still aren’t everywhere. You have to have that quality that puts you above the rest, you have to have it flawlessly consistently, you have to be in front of of a talent scout (you won’t know), you have to be in front of a good talent scout who can recognize your worth, you have to get his or her trust and confidence to submit your work to their agency, that agency has to be able to put your work in front of the world stage, and your work has to convince that agency to do so and not pass on you in favour of one of the million other people chasing their dreams with hopefully less luck than you up up until that point. Because someone better than Bo Burnham might right now be toiling in obscurity, simply because Bo was found first, and the agency wanted to put their stock in Bo. Or because the agent went to the bathroom during their best joke. There are fourteen million six hundred and five scenarios, and only one where you win.
