Hershel is the greatest college football player EVER.. Bo was a freak with sick acceleration and elusiveness for such a huge back. Marcus was a alien. I still can’t find the words to describe that monster…

On a complete side note: Cam Newton would like a word. With not a single player on that 2010 Squad making the NFL besides Newton…..Cam carried the whole school on his back all the way to a national championship. Something Bo nor Herschel can say. They all had amazing support on their teams. Cam? Not so much.

These players belong in the same video. These are the athletes we don't see today at this position...pure speed, acceleration, and power...attacking runners...authority. Really good job to put this together. Made me miss men playing football that way. Drop step blocking killed the NFL for me...

All of these guys are phenominal but when I watch the video Bo stands out to me as having the most acceleration and explosiveness. Herschel looks like the hardest to bring down, and Dupree looks the most fluid.

True, very good eye! True story though, Dupree was as fast as he had to be. One day in practice he outran a former Texas State High School sprint champion named James Lee who had the angle on him, 80yd TD! Dupree was deceptively quick and fast.

Marcus was a track man, he liked the 100 and had a higher yard average than anyone in college football as a RB. I believe he would have ran the 100 as a pro if he wasn't forced to be a football player! He(Marcus) also (i think ) had a higher yards average per game than anyone too. I think.

When Herschel hit the college scene it was literally mind blowing. For a player his size, 6 1 and 225, who could run that fast was just unheard of. Then, the graduating high school class of 1982 comes and there's two more guy's with that kind of size with speed to go with it. Bo wasn't quite that big coming out of high school though. He was around 210 215. But the story of that recruiting season was Dupree. 6 3 235 and had all the tools. I'm not sure what would of eventually happened if Dupree had stayed at OU, but man, it would of been great watching it. The 1982 recruiting class put out several awesome running backs who would play in the NFL. Bo, Dupree, Dalton Hilliard, Garry James, Reggie Dupard (those last three out of Louisiana alone). There were quite a few more, but those were off the top of my head.

987 did you know that Tim tebow didn't start his freshman year. So on sophomore year he ran for 1005 yards with 23 touchdowns and threw for 32 touchdowns. Yes accounted for running and throwing for 55 touchdowns and a heisman. Which sounds like a better year marcus at 1114 yards and 13 touchdowns and he didn't throw for any touchdowns. The recruiting year of 1982 was filled with very good runningbacks. Both Jackson and Dupree were in that class, along with a few others who made it to the NFL. Dalton Hilliard, Garry James, Reggie Dupard, Spencer Tillman, Doug Dubose, Alan Pinket. I'm sure there are more, regardless, there were many RB's in that class who went on to play in the NFL. Amazing talent. I remember sitting in the stands at UT and Herschel's first appearance. I followed recruiting and knew about him but Ga. didn't put him in until later in the 1st or 2nd quarter. But that first TD and we knew this guy was unique, Bo seems to get more out plays that just don't look like it's developing well, but his quickness and speed make the play. Marcus Dupree probably ran a 10.5 not 9.5 as a recruit benched 400 10 times for Lucious Selmon. Marcus weighed 200 in August 240 on New years day. Thats why Switzer criticized him but Marcus had minor injuries that hampered him late in the season. People questioned his heart but they didn't have a clue. When a man at 20 is injured in a pro league after his time at Oklahoma then 5 years later shows up at his agents door weighing 228 and wanting a shot at the NFL. Marcus lived his NFL dream for a season or 2 so the man had a huge heart to overcome what he did. Even though there was disappointment for Sooners fans he only played 15 or so games what he did in that short period of time will always warrant respect and Marcus will always be loved by the Sooner Nation.

What could have been.Bo Jackson had durability problems when he played in the N.F.L.Maybe because he never went through a NFL training camp could have been the problem. If he hsd stayed healthy who knows how good he could have been.As for Herschel, always kept himself in tip top shape. Never really got injured while in the NFL.Wasn't as fluid as the other two guys.Ran a little too high and stiff,but in actuality had a pretty good professional career in the USFL and the NFL. Chomp pig No he wasn't. He was 235-240. He is in the same Sooner forum I am in and have seen this question asked of him many times, plus what Barry Switzer has said as well. He was never 215-220 in College.

These three, Earl and Eric comprise the laminated list of RB's that could have gone from high school to the NFL.

I saw all three run in college and the pro level. Dupree and Herschel started in the USFL. Walker had the heart of lion 🦁. If I were going to start a team , I would pick BO. The short time he played in the NFL , he was the most feared rusher at that time, just ask the Cincinnati Bengals DBs 😂😂and Bosworth😂

Dupree all the way! quickness and power and then there is the open field. A receiver too boot, maybe.

Football AND baseball - impressive! You know who I'm talking about, obviously - that puts him above the rest! The only person to ever go #1 in NFL draft AND in the top 10 in MLB draft. Yes, of course I'm talking about Kyler Murray. Wait - you thought I was talking about Bo, or about PrimeTime?

Bo was pure speed. Dupree was power. Walker was both. Hard to choose one of those three, but as a Raider fan, gotta go with Bo.

I was 10 years old in 1983, and thought it was normal for a RB to be 6'2 230 lbs., and run a 4.3 or less. Little did I know it was just a special era for gifted athletes at the RB position. Eric Dickerson was 6'3 220 and ran like a deer. Incredible group of RB's.

Hershel had the fastest track times and was the most durable. Dupree was prettiest to watch but always had toughness issues. Bo was the best pure Athlete. If all three were on my team, Hershel would get 50% of the carries. Tougher, more violent, better in goal line situations. Bo could tire late in games but always pushed through it. Hershel got stronger as the game went on.

First of all, Barry Sanders was the greatest college (possibly pro too) RB ever. Secondly, Bo is probably the most talented overall runner of these three.

@Zionsol777
@Zionsol777 Год назад
@@sydboski Speed and quickness are not the same thing. 10.23 is how quick you ran it. Speed is how fast you are ultimately running. You can beat someone in a race by being quicker even though the other person can ultimately run faster. ie... the record 1/4 mile for a dragster may not have the record for the top speed .
