Do you know much about AoS? I'm making some stone ruins themed compatiable terrain and was wanting to do boarding actions with AoS. I was wondering how well these rules carry over for for that game system, at least in your OP.
I have not played the new AOS but I do think you could play a form of the boarding action. Rules set from Boarding action would be the same as far as charging opening stone ways and so forth. You would have to limit each faction to only using infantry and if something had fly it would loose the ability with a movement max of 7in I think per the rules set in Boarding action. Limit to one character and then max three of battle line and one of each unit outside that. I would set the cap at 500 points or power level. You could build your own missions with objectives placed inside the Stonehenge. You could play AOS rule set on the double turn as that would make for an interesting set up. That would be where to start and if I knew more about the AOS system I could give better guidance. That would be fun to do for sure now thinking about it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I am starting the faction by faction break down. Will look at doing a necrons vs sisters of battle soon. Working on getting those models purchased and painted for stream.
Yea I do not have the gaming table set up but will go over the rules and should be able to set up a small demo game so that I can go over all the rule changes.
I just got into my first Boarding Action over the weekend and it was an absolute blast! Something that was unclear to me though, is "Opening a hatchway" considered an action? I.e. Can I open a hatchway, then shoot / charge still?
At the end of you movement you can complete the action. You can still shoot and charge and can be overwatched if they set that as the action. The hard part is and tricky part is getting all the shots lined up. So you might be able to get three to shoot as you can not have your own models block your line of sight so the most I can ever get through is three. Kind of like a triangle at the door. However, if its not a strait shot you might only get one or two. Second part is if you do shoot kill the models only the models you can see are removed. Then you have removed a valid charge target as you must be able to see them to charge. Hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any more.
Its per the missions. So in each of the Boarding Patrol books that came out before 10th go over how the mission is set up. They at that time tell you to split your 10 man squads. In army construction under the new rules if a unit does not split it will say under the army construction part. Example: Death guard states that forming boarding squads do not split cultist and poxwalkers. Its a little tricky but basically the mission rules state the formation of boarding squads. Hope that helps sorry for the long explanation and thanks for watching. Greatly appreciate it.
That is awesome to hear. I love it and enjoy playing it each and every Monday on stream. We are all the time trying out different armies and working through all the mission packs. Let me know how your first games go. Love to hear the armies and list you have fun with in BA.
We did not as the key words did not match based on the new key words for the factions, however you could and they would not be game breaking. We did some testing with them and with out. Both ways keep the game balanced and did not make it so one faction had better secondary's than another.
You can still use the faction stratagems but from everything I am reading you are reduced back down to the enhancements in the new rules. They are not bad but I am looking into it to verify.
I was looking for a combi-weapon but only see them as combi-bolters. Which profile gun would have two profiles? I would think so but want to read the instance you are referring too to verify.
@@HeroicScaleGamers Ah, you are right. Combi weapon now all have the same profile anyway. Cool, that's settled then: no split weapon profiles anymore :)
@@SebastienBlaueCookieFan Glad I was able to answer but really thankful for the chance to look at it and the comment. I love questions about games as it gives me reason to dive deeper into the games.
There are different things on it. You can have some units that can have 10 models but unless it says you can keep them in 10 like breacher for tau and so forth you must split them back to 5. So like marines and Grey knights can have 10 man troops but they split into 5 man when you deploy them on the board. Hope this helps.
@@HeroicScaleGamers thank you. I’m getting terrain ready for first game. I understand that is correct. I can’t find where the rule is. Guess it got lost through editions. Anyway thank you. Well proceed as you instructed.
@@erupendragon7376 you can download the mustering your boarding action army and rules for free from the community page. They released those to go with the ordinal boarding action rule books. They correct some things that have changed. Your army will be set at 500 points and per the mustering rules you can see how many you can bring of each unit. 3, 5, 10 and so forth. The original 5 boarding action books are still used for deployment depending on the mission and that is where it will tell you to take a 10 man squad and separate unless other wise noted. The mustering rules will tell you what ability's units keep or loose and if they must be split. Hope this gives you more guidance. Sorry for the lack luster answer earlier.
Oh we will have a live report soon in the coming Mondays. Just figuring out what to armies to start with. You got any suggestions? Well with three comments so far it looks like faction by faction it is.
