I built a Jared deck similar to this recently. It's a lot of fun. You can add Martyrdom from Alliances to the list with Pariah as another damage redirection. Blessed Sanctuary and The Wanderer will protect your other creatures from damage based board wipes.
The deck seems to work well and looks like fun for all the family but you missed a very important piece for this deck. If you look closely, you'll notice that Jared's alias is "the true heir" and he's carrying a weapon with him, and it's not just "a sword" it is the MOTHERF*KING "Blackblade Reforged". This blade was first forged by "Dakkon Blackblade" using his own son's flesh and soul, his blood and tons of lives to serve the "souldrinking blade" that Jared is carrying nowadays. That blade was used previously during the "rift era" by "Korlash, heir to Blackblade" who seems to be a descendant of "Dakkon Blackblade". Lately reforged by a Cabal cult commanded by the elder demon Belzenlok, until the blade was stolen from the cabal vault by Gideon Jura, who used the blade during the war of the spark against Nicol Bolas on the Ravnica plane, and with just one stab he managed to anihilate Rhonas, one of the most powerful Nicol Bolas' "Eternal God Servants". And now, after millenia, Jared is in possession of "the most excellent weapon ever wrought by human hands" for he is the true heir of the Carthalion bloodline family, who once summoned Dakkon from its binding. No matter the plane, the time and the war, the Blackblade will ALWAYS find a way to reap more souls and it will eventualy find its true bearer. Now that the lore and the flavor are here, USE THE FREAKING BLADE! (i mean, seriously, the deck has green on it and it need aggresive ramp anyways, so the blade is perfect in so many aspects here...).
The best Boardwipe tribal/commander will always be Celestial Kirin. As someone with a Jared fight deck, the focus of the deck should be more about control than getting the Monarch back and making Jared huge. You can still take the Monarch and grow Jared, but you need to be able to close the game out soon after or protect yourself from losing the monarchy. If you want to go big with a Jared type effect, regardless of being the monarch or not, Phytohydra is a must. For evasion, I'd suggest Tempting Licid. Put Tempting Licid on something like Brash Taunter so you don't lose your creature and you burn out your opponents while also easily getting the monarchy back. You can also pair Tempting Licid with Engulfing Slagwurm for a targeted board wipe, that nets you some extra padding.
i’m nearly done with my Jared deck, and i threw in 3 cards that differ from the list, the Cards are Ram Through, Pit Fight , and Marisi, Breaker of the Coil, Ram Through has your creature deals damage to target creature, Pit fight forces others to Fight, and Marisi goads your opponent, who of which can’t attack you or your creatures and can’t cast spells during your turn if you made contact with them.
All 3 are good includes. Though, if you don't have a way to give your creatures Trample Ram through is effectively just another fight spell. Primal Rage is a good way to get Trample if you have room. Also if you have a good number of spells that target your creatures, such as fight spells, Season of Growth can provide good amounts of draw power.
This is one of the Styles I was going for. I first made enchantress Voltron but it's just not fun... tons of evasion but it was a glass Cannon... but I think focusing on the fight mechanic and damage to all Creatures seems more interesting. VIGORRRRRRR!!!
Vexing Shusher is great anti counterspell magic to get your boardwipes through. Also, instant speed for your creatures can get Jared in on the endstep before your turn then you can become the monarch right away.
You messed on 2 things so far. Protector of the Crown is a bad card to run because the damage that would be dealt to you, is dealt to it instead. Meaning if Jared has Pariahs Shield equipped then the damage dealt to you will not increase Jared's power. It'll just kill your Protector. Also, if you run Vigor, it's triggered ability will cancel Jared's triggered ability. What you want to run is Pyrohemia. This way you can sink a bunch of mana into it while Jared has Pariahs Shield which will effectively wipe the board while causing massive amounts of damage to your opponents and make Jared absolutely outrageously huge! Pyrohemia is the Golden Pig of the deck
Surprised to not see Repercussion in here as a secondary win-con, Star of Destruction or Blasphemous Act wiping the opponent's commander and one other creature can do a buttload of damage.
@@nathanfriedman7367 In this build, yes. But I think that the average Jared deck would run a lot of damage based boardwipes, but not a lot of stuffy dolls, so Tajic protects your board when you're not the monarch
@@nik700 But you then still miss out on the Jared trigger sometimes, which isn't always optimal. At that point, Tajic should be your commander. You want to be the monarch, and you want to have the Jared trigger, so you shouldn't include a card that actively shuts down the Monarch payoff Jared has. I understand your point about different builds, but if you want to run damage-based boardwipes to trigger Jared, Tajic isn't a great pick unless you have a repeatable way to blink it in response to Jared taking damage.
My deck, among many others have been done for a while now and the prices haven't fluctuated much at all(except for the shield) so I doubt DJ talking about it will cause a large enough spike in the price of these cards.
Thinking about it now, Jared might be the commander I've been looking for to lead a Tamanoa deck. I was looking at Kynios and Tiro for the blue so I could run Soulfire Grandmaster too, but maybe dropping blue for a big beater like Jared is worth it.
Arcbond with Pariah and Taunter does the same. That said, Comeuppance will result in a draw if it's played, so be wary of that. Though, it might not be an issue as it doesn't seem to see much play, despite being a solid card.
Okay, Imma be honest here, I can see how a creature ends up being Pariahed, but how the hell do you convince a 1/1 to pick up that scary ass Pariah Shield they just saw vaporize their friend??
