I got a 5000 pound boat I bought a 5000 pound winch at tractor supply electric off-road winch been pulling my boat up for at least eight years with it. I get it close enough to hook the cable and then stand at the truck and push the button in the boat comes up on the trailer every time no matter the wind speed the waves, whatever the problem is help no help comes up every time.
Now this is only viable if you can power load at your local boat dock or the boat dock that you’re at the next thing is why had to give us a whole conversation about a Yamaha motor. I came here to see a boat release trailer release.
Why don't you do this is windy weather ??? Not in flat / glasses water not a true reflect of what you are demonstrating......Not the same with wind pushing your boat at like 20 knots on one side trying to do this.
Get some roller guides on your trailer and learn exactly how much to put your trailer in the water. If your boat is still floating when the bow makes contact with the trailer bow tower, then you have put to much trailer in the water. Now after you have fine tuned that, as long as you can actually drive a boat unto the trailer, the latch will work every time no matter how windy it is. Good luck.....
Go to your local tractor supply by electric winch like I did eight years ago figure out how much your boat weighs and then pull it in with the electric winch. I do this every time for the last eight years I don’t have the crank and I don’t have to line the boat up. All I have to do is get it close enough to get the clip on it and the winch does the rest
