Been with you since the beginning, not to mention the self gratification you get when you do the work yourself, some will never know.

Why not screw a pressure gauge on the take and pump it up to 5 pounds. I know the tank can handle high pressure. I would put 5 psi on it and leave it overnight. It is a lot of work to find out later that you have a small leak.

I'm giving you props for doing it mostly yourself. I was in a similar situation but even bigger. I just completed a 450 hour restoration on my 27' center console I've owned 22 years. Needed transom replacement (converted to Coosa for all repairs), engine bracket rebuild, super fine stress cracking, soft floor refurbishment etc. I could have never sold it with a clean conscience and I've had so many great times on it I just had to bring it back to solid. It did take 4X longer than I expected, but much of that was me learning how to do it, choosing and gathering materials and lots of grinding, glassing and new gel coating (80% of the hull). I just made it done in time for our annual family run to the Keys for mini lobster. Boat looks as nice as the day I bought it and performed excellent. I figure I saved about $30K even after materials, but it was the toughest DIY project I ever took on. Now I could sell it but hey, I'm going for another 20+ years with it.

My hat is off to you Adam for even attempting to do the work yourself along with your friends. I was living in Daytona Beach 40 years ago and I was 23 at the time. I found a Mako 17 center console at a ridiculously low price. It needed some cosmetic work. Long story short, I repaired all the nicks and dings then thought I might as well get the hull repainted. Had an entire boys weightlifting team from a local high school come over and we took the boat off the trailer and turned it upside down on some wooden horses so I could sand and paint. When it was finished, they all help me put it back on the trailer. Hauled it down to a marina where I bought a used Mercury 115. Years of enjoyment.

I build boats for a living. 25 plus years. A few years back one of our foam guys was foaming his last boat of the day. This was on a friday on a 32 foot boat. After the foam kicked of he scraped out the foam holes but didn't reset the timer of the foam guy and left. The foam tanks part a and part b emptied over the weekend and when we came in Monday their was a gigantic mound of foam as big as 3 30 foot hulls. They had to take all our fork lifts and ram the foam for 7 hours to get all the foam off of the floor.😂 i would have helped you on this fix gladly bro.

Adam you're an inspiration. I'm watching you do the very best to replace your fuel tank and foam, etc. When you screw up, you recognize it and fix it. I'm in the middle of doing a 3 bolt front shock replacement that has turned into a major front end suspension and bearing hub repair. Your patience with your project and yourself is a great example. Thx!

I give you a ton of credit for fixing that boat, and for doing it yourself. I hope my comments on the last vid didnt get lumped in with the keyboard warriors, you had one way out of that mess: fix the tanks and the floors - you have far too much into that boat making it nice to walk away. You're super lucky those stringers werent a mess- my parker 25 they were f-ing awful in the cockpit and both of my tanks were starting to leak out of the access panels before i sold it. You've turned that thing into a really nice boat. Selling it isnt really an option- youve made that boat into your own, and it's worth far more to YOU than anyone else.

Let me tell you....I have so much respect for how you run your business and I've definitely loved your fuel tank restoration series. I assisted my dad when I was younger to rebuild the stringers in his 18' Glastron boat so I understand the hard work that you've put into this project. I watch BlueGabe and recently he had to have the same exact thing done on his Contender boat, only he paid a company somewhere around $25,000-$30,000 to do it, so look at the money you saved.

Like you said there are two ways to install a tank. Foaming a tank in place is still a satisfactory method. I'm currently installing a tank in my 1993 Intrepid. My old one lasted thirty years. I called Intrepid to see how they are doing it now and they still foam the tanks in. Thats good enough for me. I will fiberglass the top of the new tank which will add more years to it i think.

Great work Capt. you should be proud of yourself for what you’ve accomplished. F all the haters. Easy for people to sell the boat when most never had one. These are the same people that jump on others boats and are nowhere to be found when help is needed. Only critique is why didn’t you seal the 2x4 that you screwed next to the stringers. Maybe you did but didn’t see it. Keep on keeping on Capt.

I might be wrong, but it looks like old mate didn't weld the top sheet of the tank to the top edge/s of the baffles, especially the baffle in the centre.. I though it was a given that the top edge of the baffle plates have a small lip folded over 90deg to minimise the flex in the baffle itself, with slots cut in the top sheet, this also allows it to be strip- plug welded, this ties the top sheet into the baffle/s. But hey mate, nice welds on the tank itself, you must also have some very good UV blocking sunscreen. 😂😅😂 Potentially, the design is floored with future internal flex on the baffles, causing the welds to eventually crack with the movement of the fuel. I've seen ally tanks with the baffles floating around in them, cracked out from being welded only on the bottom and sides.. Just saying, interesting, not how I have see it done and done. But hopefully, it lasts forever, or as long as you have the vessel anyway. Best of luck 👍 🍻

Nice job on your boat. I stayed till the end and listened to you talking about the criticism you received for repairing your boat. Many of my friends own businesses, all types and sizes of businesses. None of them became successful spending money on things they can do themselves , that’s a rudimentary fundamental to owning a business. It’s a job, it’s work, it requires effort and sacrifice. Couple of weeks ago I wanted to connect with a local shop owner. The business is closed on the weekend, but I drove by just to see if anyone was around, and guess what,,, the owner of the business was there,, like I knew he would be.
