After a few long attempts, i decided to steer the camera to get a closer look at the chaos. Surely this guy doesn't own these skis. THIS is the most embarassing launch ive ever witnessed. A grown man, chit faced. Welcome to the Pensacola, Fl version of The Chit Show #boatramp #boatrampfails #boating #ineedhelp #hilarious #drunkinpublic #boatingundertheinfluence

At 15 years 8 months, I launched boats on trailers, with cheap cars, on various boat ramps, in one try. By myself! Some people have way more money than brains. Learning has nothing to do with it. Some brains are just defective in certain ways, and will never learn. Wow. Once I saw a fast boat run over a sand bar, on the wrong side of the channel marker, busted the motor and ran aground. Much fun to see. I never had a boat or car accident, ever. 50 years so far. Coast Guard courses do help, but not with boat ramps. Great video.

Reminds me of when I got in trouble in high school and my dad made me go to work with him as a retail contractor. He had a 5th wheel 40ft box trailer he made into a traveling workshop pretty much. Well one day we pulled the trailer into a campground and my dad asked me to park the trailer bc he needed to talk to some guys standing by the road. I don’t get out, just hopped over to the driver’s seat (1 ton dully diesel) I backed the trailer in between two semi trailers 1st attempt. Hopped out of the truck to stretch from our road trip and those guys jaws hit the floor when they saw 15yr old girl me get out of the truck. Now these little trailers can kiss my ass! It’s nothing but Opposite Day and my brain is already opposite so it just doesn’t complete the circuit of thought process anymore lol😂

Give me an 8-10’ trailer and I can be out there all day lol… by the time you notice its drifting one way or the other its already upside down 3 houses down and on fire somehow lol Edit: just watched the video…. I’m not that bad lol

I appreciate that backing a trailer up is harder than it looks. But I also think that after a few attempts, one should be able to start recognizing what the trailer does after certain moves. And then you keep trying and it will get better each time. But if you lack logic insight, than don't even try and just ask someone to do it.
@ontheroad5317
@ontheroad5317 Год назад
@@FetidafI drive for an LTL company. It’s true that the longer the trailer, the more forgiving it is. Some days I’ll be out in a 48’ or 53’, then take a second load on a pup (28’), and it takes a couple of cuts to adjust mentally to the difference. But you’re right that at a lot of places you only have a few inches margin for error.

That’s some great advice! Take your boat or camper to a parking lot and practice. Even with all the 360° cameras on my truck, I still use my mirrors and drop the tailgate on steep ramps, my advice is to just use your mirrors, cameras can get dirty, broken, hard to see at night and hard to judge distances, I see lots of people make more mistakes with cameras. Exactly, our family ranch is on a peninsula and it's critical that everyone over 5 years old knows how to drive every vehicle, farm equipment, and water craft. Backing up trailers is mandatory starting from the time they can turn a steering wheel. For us it's a matter of safety. Sometimes we don't have an adult available to help with loading or unloading trailers, so the children must be well trained, well practiced and know what they are doing. And no, we don't turn them loose on the highway alone , until they have a license. I refuse to raise idiots, this young generation coming up is going to need every skill we can possibly teach them.

What to keep in mind most of the time is to turn your front wheels opposite way than you want the trailer to turn until or unless your vehicle is more than at a 10 degree angle to the trailer. Also, good mirror alignment/angles. I never look anywhere else but my mirrors, looking at my trailer tires or fenders. A 10 degree angle is when you look in the turn side mirror of your vehicle and you see the front of your boat or the wench. If you are at more than 10 degrees, it 's better to pull out and straighten up than proceed. It will take you at least the full length of your vehicle and trailer to straighten up going backwards.

@JBo-mv8hd 3 месяца назад
As im warching these vidoes all i can say is WOW. For the new boat owners here's a tip. Turn the wheel an inch and move the trailer a mile. Your turning radius and pivot point cause a drastic turn event on the trailer. 1. Straighten the trailer, 2. Back up slow with short controlled turns while looking back over your shoulder. 3 if the trailer kicks one way slightly turn the wheel in the opposite direction of the kick out. 4. Straighten up as fast as possible after the kick corrects itself. All these failed launches are because of over corrections. Hope that helps those out there. Your front tires on the vehicle cause the rear to kick out hard and fast. This pivot point on the hitch causes the trailer to act like a pendulum.

If you have the opportunity to practice with a short truck and loooong trailer you will learn much more quickly. If your rig prevents you from seeing the tiny trailer until it is already jackknifed you will never learn! What can be difficult is when the trailer is empty so you can’t see it straight out of your back window. So you have drop tailgate or use your side view mirrors which can be limited depending on alignment at any given moment. Not the case here anyway as there’s already one wave runner on the trailer. My dad did me a life favor when I was 14 and taught me to back the trailer up our driveway and into our garage. It became my responsibility each time we returned home from the lake. Thanks Dad!
