What can you do with a raw edge that sheds carpet. Propane torch the edge to kind of melt the plastic to stop it? Cauterize in affect the edge? If I vacuum the edge enough will it stop shedding the carpet?
Thanks for the video, I'll be carpeting my new floor for my drift boat today. Is there a grade of carpet besides "Marine" grade that I should look for? Thanks a bunch bud!
washburnbilly thanks for checking it out! If it’s going to be on sections of the exterior of the boat stick to marine grade but if you don’t mind swapping it out every few years go for comfort!

I got the wood all carpeted tonight and ready to go to screw in tomorrow. But why would you use regular carpet instead of marine carpet? That doesn't make sense to me? And I'm not being a jerk, but the extra money is well worth the hassle of not having to do it every 2 year's? Anyway thanks again for the video! Thanks for the video. We have a boat that's almost identical to this one. I know this was three years ago, but about what do you think the total expense was to replace that carpet including labor (ballpark)?
The opening video had me cracking up haha. Great job and great video. For detailed work like that I would try to price it so I'd be making around $100 an hour. That is a skilled service to do.

Hey, i recently bought a decent boat 1985 Diversity 18footer with a 2009 200hp johnson outbrd motor... the floor is kinda soft and i was looking into changing it... how much do you guys think it would run me to remove the floor and put a new one on?

Can somebody that knows a lot about carpet tell me if you have ants in your room can you get carpet over it? Little explanation: So I have ants in my room and I’ve had them before but recently we got our carpet taken out from the flood and without the carpet I’ve gotten a lot more ants in my room then I ever have and soon we’re going to have people come put carpet down and if they can’t put the carpet down bc if ants I’m getting my ass whooped
Penguin Guy anytime I’ve ran into an ant prob when we’ve removed carpet we’ve sprayed the perimeter of the room then did the installation after This strategy prob isn’t the “cure all” but just how I’ve handled in the past
I spent many years installing carpet (one of the few who was actually licensed and bonded). I can tell you that on the few occasions I did an RV or in an environment similar to a boat’s interior, staples into fiberglass was definitely a “no go.” So I am very confused about how this video makes it appear that staples seemingly popped in and held with no problem (and I used to use a real gun, not that DIY thing he is using in the video). I would love to know the answer to that. As for the suggestion that the staples will “rust” that is not a fair criticism or concern. If the interior of a boat like this was getting so much salt water that the tiny portion of the head of a staple in your carpet is rusting….. you have bigger problem than the condition of your carpet. If this were an exterior area maybe (possibly stainless staples?). But in the interior of an upscale boat like this… no problem.
