Learn how to carpet your decking like the pros on this episode of Flip My Jon Boat. I’ll start with the plywood, then we will move to cutting the carpet to size. After that I’ll show you how to easily lay down the carpet adhesive. From there we will staple the carpet down and then I’ll show you how you a technique I coined “the cousin tuck” - dedicated to another GA boy (and maybe a cousin) Anthony Jones and the top gun John boat. “The cousin tuck“ is a creative way to staple the corners of the carpet to your decking to give it a professional look.
I made the decision to go with carpeting because the EVA foam shrunk at the seams in the cold weather. Also the carpet is going to give the boat a much more finished, professional look. I will use the EVA foam and some accents throughout the boat. If you have anymore questions about why I made a switch from carpet to the EVA foam, please leave them in the comments below.
