Under the secret hatch is a large clown's head on a spring that leaps up with a loud squawk and frightens the living daylights out of the opener. For special occasions, such as when relatives that you don't like come to visit, a large quantity of glitter can also be dispensed.

I'm glad for the tour, someone had really did a job on the ship, someone who had no idea of what they are doing or how to do it. The two cabins may be original, and just rip everything else out and give that poor ship its dignity back.

@@millmiller1216 I think from their previous video its down that very steep stair way.. it might be a secondary access hatch but I suspect is the access for the shaft stuffing box and the rudder post and quadrant that far back.
@FlyingConey
@FlyingConey 2 года назад
So far nobody had the right answer. The engine room is only accessible from the outside. The door is next to the door where I was entering the aft cabin. To @Clive and @Mill Miller. The stuffing box is aft in the engine room and the rudder post and steering gear as a little bit more aft under the table of that couch arrangement. But thanks for guessing. The solution is in the next video! 😀

Definitely an awesome boat. I love it. Looking forward to your projects. As someone who did complete gut and rebuild a rotten steel sailing vessel, partly while living on it, I highly recommend to do one compartment (or project) each time and keep the boat sail worthy. Life happens and you'll be glad to have a good place to stay and close the door to leave the mess behind. And be sure to enjoy the boat. Take her out once every while. It might take longer and be a bit more expensive not to strip the complete boat at once. But you'll enjoy it more and not be living in a metal shell for the upcoming years. Wish you the best and good luck any way! 🙂👍

@FlyingConey

The worst thing is that at some parts you see that the interior was quite decent at some point. We assume that the nice looking parts are from her days as a sailing ship. I think you need to start at the bow and deck level and work your way back.. that head is most likely the source of your smell problem so i would figure thats a below decks priority.. I linked you a few ideas vessels previously one was a totally self built live aboard. Fix the upstairs shower ...you will be grateful to be able to get cleaned up without having to trek across the dock especially in bad weather or when you just want to sleep. You can increase your heat recovery from the fire if you need... Ask around see if anyone has a spare washing machine ..or one with a damaged case that might be sold off as a second..if its fitted in to a case then its not going to show.🤷🏻‍♂️😉 Will you keep the galley in its current location. Your bird steps need converting into a ladder for safety at sea or in an emergency. ... Like a fire in the galley area.🤔

That boat is in really nice condition inside. A little dated maybe. But I would really keep that aft cabin. So spacious. It would be a shame to remove it.
@FlyingConey
@FlyingConey 2 года назад
We do not want to remove the aft cabin. Lowering the quarter deck a meter or so would still leave enough space for that. The main reason why we have to remove the interior is to gain access to the hull at all places. It's isolated with very thick cork and we have no idea what surprises we see when we remove that. But we want to save the good wood, handles and door knobs and all of that.
@millmiller1216
@millmiller1216 2 года назад
A good overview. :) Although not the whole ship, but there is already an idea about it. It is immediately obvious that it has been rebuilt several times. I don't know what the plans are for "completely outdated instruments", but it would be interesting to keep them for future generations.
@FlyingConey
@FlyingConey 2 года назад
We will definitely keep the radio and with the other stuff we will probably make a give away at some point. Actually there is a reason why we haven't filmed the engine room. With the GoPro the footage would be unwatchable and at the moment it's a mess down there because of the constant battle against the bilge water. What else we have missed?

Your best Video yet , Please take your time to do an overall plan of the interior .I can envision A most beautiful sailing yacht .There is sooo much potential there . It's too bad the bow sprit had to be cut off maybe a removable one can be installed so as to restore her profile and be of practical use under sail .
@FlyingConey
@FlyingConey 2 года назад
Thank you! For the bowsprit there are two solution. One would be to register the boat in Jersey and the other one would be to make a hinged boom. But a sailing ship needs a bow sprit, that's for sure. The plan of the interior is already in my head, with lots of quirks and features. But I haven't found the time to measure the ship to sketch it out on paper.
@loganjohnson3589
@loganjohnson3589 2 года назад
@@FlyingConey Lot's of Ideas so little room which do we keep which do we morn . May i suggest starting at the dock and imagine you are coming aboard what do you want others and yourself to see then progress into the boat in your normal routine and think about what you want where like a clothes locker for foul weather gear and dry .then progress on to the next thing you would normally every day .and so on . these are habits you do routinely so it will help you put the right things in the right place much more easily .A hinged boom doesn't sound strong enough in foul weather . maybe for ring was on a hinge and the ring itself was split and had a locking clamp and the stern ring a pin to pull that would disconnect ring and boom from the deck you could then use a line to pull or push the boom for and aft It would be novel and not prone to stress .No matter what else you will make her your own in your own way .

no chain locker views? seriously though you might consider completely gutting the interior in phases and replace all of the wiring and plumbing. have you given any thought about the materials you will use for the renovation?
@FlyingConey
@FlyingConey 2 года назад
Sorry for missing the chain locker. There will be a detailed video about the upcoming projects soon. Actually it was scheduled instead of that one but we had not enough time to finish it. Our plan for the interior is to use European solid wood. Our goal is that it will look somewhere in between a classic yacht and a tall ship interior. Also depending on the section. From the technical standpoint we have to strip the interior first before we can come up with a plan. We do know the thickness of the hull but thats pretty much it. Some areas we have access to are looking fine others not so much. Thinking about sandblasting, flame zinc spray and spray foam. A bit tricky to get price informations and if we could afford this gold standard way...

@@jakoblindhardt2733 Nope, I said "A small seating area on the left side." And that makes a difference. Most important I wasn't referring to anything important for navigating the ship or handling the sails. I meant my left side, in this case, coincidently also the port side of the ship and last but not least we also said "port" and "port side" multiple times. You know after half a century of combined sailing knowledge we are already in the stage of we know when it is important to use the right terminology and when not.
