If you are familiar with this area and boating, you probably know how nasty the canal can get on the weekends.
This is a no wake/safe speed zone. This boat was going WAY TOO fast.

What shocks me is people in these small boats in rough seas: NOONE ever ( except for Law enforcement i guess) wears life Jackets!! Even the guy in the dinghy with 50HP!! CRAZY!!

Here’s the thing folks. You have to be running faster than the current or you can’t control your boat so the no wake isn’t possible and thus the reason cops aren’t handing out tickets

These people are ridiculous. I realize there is a fairly strong current, but that doesn't necessitate how fast they all go and just make reckless amounts of wake. Not just the go fast boat, almost everyone. It's ludicrous. You need to go fast enough to maintain headway and maneuverability. Most of these boats are far exceeding that and just creating a dangerous mess with all the crazy wake.

I had to get towed last week, primer ball tore. Sea Tow charges $400 an hour. Free through my insurance though

Should sign up with Sea tow. I had to get towed couple times back in 94. First time was I was doing a shake down cruise in the metediconk River after my boat was layed up for 4 years on land. First thing I did was sign up with them. Drove around for a bit then the engine conked out. After I got back to the dock, just for shits and giggles, I wanted to see if the engine would start, sure enough it did. For about a couple weeks it ran ok. Then I took her through the canal, rad fine. So I did some fluke fishing. Fished one spot where I caught fluke before, nothing so I moved towards manasquan. Nothing. Started the engine, nothing. Drifting NW towards the jetty. Called sea tow and they got to the dock.
