Its a lousy thing to do when there's other boats but can't say I've never gone thru on plane when there weren't. His speed was about as bad as it could be, not enough to plane but pushing heavy wake. And pontoons don't belong in the canal, at some point someone's gonna get hurt.
I HATE going through Point Pleasant Canal! The current rips super hard and then add the big boys that come in and out! Not for the novice captain at all!
This is where we were in my yacht playing 8-ball when I sank every ball on the break. Never been able to do it again. Must be some strange phenomenon here
Could you imagine trying to navigate that in a 16 ft. Tinny………? These people will flip you over and run through your corpse with a prop. Typical NJ entitlement coupled with a lack of class, on full display.
it is stunning as to how many of the guys driving really well set up boats have no idea what trimming up would do for the ride through the waves. All of the boats getting thrown around have the motor all the way down. You are not utilizing your boats design.

Nice job, Captain! This happened to us once in the Manasquan Inlet. Our Capt couldn't tell which side of the rocks we were at on the north & south end jetties. We took a few attempts and kept circling out and around. A few of us on the bow trying trying to get a better look. Scary until we knew we were in.
You don’t trust gps or radar really? What a fucking clown thing to say. My gps or radar has never let me down once I’ve run through foggy inlets hundred’s of times without a hiccup. You need to have more fun in life and stop being a scared little boy. You don’t need to fly through the inlet to make it in safe.
I remember inching our way back in following the sound of a coast guard cutter who was stationed 1/2 mile of the mouth. It was a very bad day and we were very happy to see the CG.
