After a week long stay at Glades Boatyard working on our 2006 341 Meridian “Happy Ours”, we put the final finishing touches on her and get ready to splash and sea trial the boat with the newly scraped, sanded and painted bottom and running gear.
All was going well until a thing happen….

Just for my peace of mind I would bring the boat to an area with the clearest water and slowest current and I would take a splash with my snorkel gear to take a peek. Would give you peace of mind and a good video for the channel. Thumbs up btw for admitting you were in an area that was marked for shoals instead of not taking the blame. We also miss that beautiful wife of yours!❤️

Great video as always! The paint job turned out great! I can only imagine how hard that work must have been to get that all done, but definitely worth it! Gaining 6 mph for top speed is a huge success! Unfortunate about the little "bump" in the road. Looking forward to your underwater dive to check it out. For the report you posted, Starboard is abbreviated as STBD. Glad to see the overheating is gone!

Tom, try taking two pieces of wire and connect the port gauge to the starboard temp sending unit and vice versa. If nothing changes on the temp, try replacing the starboard thermostat. I had a similar problem on my Blackfin with twin Yanmars and it was the risers. I know you replaced your risers so that part is not the problem. May want to check the hose from your seacock to the salt water pump for barnacles. Great job, 👍.

I keep my boat in a covered slip on Lake Union in Seattle. I just did new bottom paint last October. The paint lasted 7 years and the experts at the yard said it could of even gone another season. Of course there isn't problems with barnacles in fresh water but the bottom does get the green slime on it. A diver cleans the bottom twice a year. To get to the Puget Sound we only have to go 2 miles on the ship canal to the Ballard locks and out into the salt we go. The locks can be a pain at times during the busy times of the year but our boat has been in fresh water since new and it looks great

Try swapping RW pumps if you feel inclined, had a buddy chased a overheat issue forever, finall put new pump on and made a big difference ... sometimes the pump is the culprit. I would advise zinc in Salt water also.

Im thinking a prop re-pitch would benefit the boat. Those 6.2s should run around 5000rpm@wot. The engines wouldn't have to work as hard, the boat will plane much better, and the top speed will probably be 25-27mph.

Use ZINC instead of aluminum. Aluminum is for brakish water while zinc is for salt water.

I’ve read aluminum is good for salt also.
@sailorman8590
@sailorman8590 3 месяца назад
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs aluminum is the choice for brakish water. Zinc protects better for salt water and magnesium is used to protect metals in fresh water. Yes, aluminum can be used in salt water but offers less protection than zinc due to the anode/cathode environment.

Just as a tip, aluminum anodes are for sweet water and zinc is for salt water. So it is not that aluminum is the latest thing in anodes. Be careful if you plan to go into salt water for a prolonged period of time, you will need to change. As for the temperature, nothing to worry about, they remain stable, so means the thermostat and water pump are working.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 3 месяца назад
I’ve read aluminum is good for brackish and saltwater: Aluminum Sacrificial Anodes Recommended for both saltwater and brackish water use. Aluminum anodes have a higher electrical capacity, allowing for smaller anodes than other materials. Aluminum will remain active when exposed to air and reactivate when re-immersed.
@davedavids9619
@davedavids9619 3 месяца назад
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs thanks for the tip, will look it up. My chandler always advises me to use the zinc and not the aluminum for being on salt water. In fact, in the Netherlands I was told to change anodes if I was going to take the boat out to sea. But am never to old to learn.
@JeremyDWilliamsOfficial

If your starboard engine is running a little hotter and you are also getting more power from it, it sounds like it could be running a little lean. Have you tuned up your carbs lately? You could turn the starboard engine mix screw an 1/8th of a turn to rich up starboard engine or do the opposite to port engine to lean that one. I've got two V8's and the carbs were way out of whack when I bought it. If you don't want to mess with them, have a carb specialist (or your local hot-rodder) do it. I wouldn't trust an average marine mechanic (sorry).

I wouldn't be too concerned with that small of a difference in temps. There has to be one water pump that is weaker than the other. That and the cumulative effect of calcium deposits throughout the cooling system. The guages are probably not dead nuts accurate and thermostats add a degree or two to the equation.

Isn't 4K low for WOT? I can't remember what engines you have but for some reason, WOT RPM should be 4600- 5000 RPM is what comes to mind.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 3 месяца назад
That’s true but it’s a known problem with these meridians. There is a hull modification called a hook to the prop tunnel that helps get the ass up and high rpms. Also a prop change.
