I worked for Bob's big in 1981. I waitressed my way through beauty school working the night shift. I loved it and was super fun. Bob's big boy had Standards.
Another awesome review of this classic restaurant. It is said that The Beatles dined at that Burbank Big Boy location in 1965. They sat in the last booth on the right as you enter the restaurant. People fight to sit there. Thanks for sharing, Bill and Lisa.
Yeah I ate there when I was a kid in the 70's always loved it, been a minute since I have seen a Bobs restaurant since I live in Northern Cali, thanks for sharing.
I was born in Burbank and we lived there until I was four. However, my grandparents always lived there, and when we visited, it was a must that we eat at that Big Boy restaurant. Thanks for the memories
YEEEEESSSSS THAT'S SOME DELICIOUS LOOKING FOOD WOW😋😋😋😋. THANKS FOR SHARING ANOTHER MAGNIFICENT VIDEO, KEEP UP THE INCREDIBLE WORK 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😁👍🏼😋😋😋😋 YOU TOO ARE SO FUNNY 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Loved this! Like I said over on IG, started going there as a kid (around 5?…) and still our absolute must stop restaurant if we’re in the area - or we just make an extra trip. lol We ate there so much when we lived in Burbank lol Why not?? lol That hamburger has never changed. It’s the best burger ever, because the second I see it, I go right back to being a kid. Bob’s spoiled me with their *cold* salad. It’s the only way I’ll eat it. And I always have their Blue Cheese in the fridge. lol. Thanks or this superb retro video! Miss you guys! xoxo
I remember going to Bob's Big Boy Restaurant in Burbank, CA when I was a kid with my family. It was a great Restaurant and experience. The food and staff were excellent. The burgers, Pappy Parkers Fried Chicken was to die for, the shakes were thick and rich, their salads were wonderful, the Onion Rings were piled high and cripsy, the Chili was wonderful and I fell in love with their Blue Cheese and Rougfort Salad Dressings. OMG! ❤😊 I miss living in Southern California so much. 😢💔
WOW! Bob's is still around?! I grew up going to Huntington Beach Bob's Bigboy with my grandfather when I was 8 years old. Now I'm almost 60 years old! Good food! My grandfather lived through the depression and would leave a dime as a tip! Later, it became a quarter! That location was torn down decades ago.😢
Hi Lisa and Bill. My dad took me to Bobs Big Boy in Lakewood Washington. Fond Memories. I remember that my hamburger had thousand island dressing. Milkshakes were excellent. Great review as usual❤
Aloha Ohana 🌺! The memories! I love Bob's Big Boy! My go to is the big boy combo and frosty milk shake! The chili spaghetti looked delicious! Thanks so much for the review ❤
God I miss Bob’s Big Boy so much you guys are eating all my favorites down to the salads but always got the Blue Cheese dressing they make the best there!😊😊😊😊yum!
I have fond memories going to the Bob’s Big Boy breakfast buffet too. My Dad and I would go together to bond when I was little. I remember their biscuits and gravy along with their potato medallions.
Been waiting for this. Bobs was always our favorite growing up in the 60s and 70s. No doubt our favorites were always the Big Boy Combo and the Chili Spaghetti. So many good memories. Thanks for this special video.
I'd like to repeat a story that I heard from Mark Thompson of the morning show duo "Mark and Brian" many years ago. Mark is a huge Elvis fan. He told the story of when Elvis' manager went to that Bob's Big Boy location one night and asked the diners if anyone wanted to go to a concert for free. A bunch of diners took him up on the offer. They walked down the street to one of the nearby studios and became part of the audience for Elvis' "Comeback Special" in 1968. There wasn't any internet back in those days, and really no way to announce the taping of the concert in a controlled fashion. An announcement on the radio would have had the studio overrun by fans. Making the offer at Bob's Big Boy brought just enough people to fill in the audience for the taping. And as another commenter said, the Beatles also dined there. There is (or at least was the last time I was there) a plaque marking the booth that the Beatles sat in.
Thank you for this! New Subscriber!🥰My Grandpa used to take me there when I was a kid in the 60’s. He worked for Lockheed & we lived in N.Hollywood. Such great memories🥰
Oh my!! We used to have one near my first home and we’d go to the Sunday breakfast buffet which was HUGE and so delicious!! Thanks for the memories guys!! Your fan in Florida, Cindy 👱♀️🌈☀️🧡🌸
When I was a kid, our family would occasionally go to Bob's Big Boy in Buena Park across the street from Van de Kamps Coffee Shop which was a restaurant shaped like a windmill. My grandmother would always get the Big Boy Combo. It was exactly like a Big Mac. Salad was always with 1000 island for my grandmother, really for any of our family members. But it was only $1.99. It went up to $2.99 with the big inflation during that time. Gas even went up to 79.9 cents/per gallon for Super at the 76 station. When we went for breakfast, Bob's had a thick-cut French toast which had a crispiness to it with a lot of powdered sugar. It came with either maple syrup (probably fake maple syrup) or boysenberry syrup, since it was close to Knott's Berry Farm who invented it. Dessert was a hot fudge sundae. The three places we would go to breakfast would be Bob's Big Boy, Van de Kamp's Coffee Shop, or Sambo's Restaurant.
Went to this location for the first time a couple months ago and I asked if they still deep fried the French toast (that's how they made it crispy back when I was kid in the 70's) and they said yes, but you have to ask for it. It made me so happy to eat such a nostalgic treat.
Hey Bill and Lisa you are bringing me back to my childhood. I remember going with my dad and getting the hamburgers there and it was excellent one other note you got to meet my wife and kids in Las Vegas on my 50th birthday and I was not there with them I was somewhere else in the hotel. You guys do a great job thanks so much for the content
Yes Bill everybody loves big… chicken breasts 😂😂 that restaurant is so cool, I’ve seen this on a document and have always been so interested in find out some more about it. Thanks for sharing Lisa and Bill xx
This was a treat. I grew up in Glendale, and I would go to Bob's all the time in the 70s and 80s. I always would get the chili spaghetti or the Big Boy with fries. Great memories go way back. I still go to this one in Burbank on occasion. My dental office that I go to is only a block away. You have to try the french fries with Bob's famous Blue Cheese. It's great. Thank you Bill and Lisa! Love you guys. I'm addicted to your channel!
I grew up on East Coast. Have great memories of Bob's Big Boy. They had a breakfast buffet, which was always such a treat when my parents would take me. Thanks for the nostalgia!
When I worked in Yorba Linda 30 years ago we used to go to the Bob's Big Boy for lunch and get the hamburger fries and a coke and small salad along with a hot fudge cake
I lived in Burbank back in the 90's and early 2000's. I used to go there for car show on Friday nights and ate there often. The chili size was my favorite, but chicken was a close second. It reminded me of my mother's fried chicken. It's dipped in egg wash and flour, not a batter. Thanks, that brings back memories for sure. They haven't changed a thing - except for the prices. Bob's is what fast food used to be like.
Amazing back in the day the number of movie stars who you used to see at this Bob’s Big Boy. Probably not as many today. Another great video! Other Bill
In the 70’s we had a Bob’s in Monrovia. We would get the speacial: Bob’s double cheese burger, fry’s, and the hot fudge cake with ice cream and fudge sauce. It cost I believe $3.99. The Chili spaghetti is my favorite dinner meal.
I grew up in Burbank and always went to bob’s big boy with my dad, it was his favorite spot. You must get the milk shake which use to come in a metal cup and you always got the extra shake. I miss BBB and I miss going with my dad, the best childhood memories for sure!
I remember in the late 60s early 70s bobs had a combo with the burger salad and fries served on a plate with three sections. And the thousand island dressing was the best!!,
Hey Lisa!!!!! Hey Bill !!!!! I remember when we had Bobs Big Boy here in Las Vegas, there chili speghetti was good. Thanks for this video. I might make some one of these days? Great to see and hear you guys ❤ 😊
I was actually a waitress at bobs big boy in Monrovia ca. the waitresses hand made the onion rings in the morning before opening. On the weekends the high school kids would come in late at night and order French fries with a side of blue cheese dressing to dip and lots of hot fudge cakes. Fun memories btw my pay was 2.12 an hour lol
Where's the Classic ham and cheese salad??? Ive gone there since i was 9 years old im now in my 60's wow do glad you did this video brings back memories still looks the ssme
We had a bobs big boy here in Lake Havasu AZ that was such a childhood nostalgia spot, they’ve been closed for something like 20 years now unfortunately like all the others that aren’t in LA
Oh the memories of Bob's Big Boy! Was my dad's favorite! Now, as an adult, I realized it was the waitresses he favored ...haha we liked the wedge salad hamburger combo that came with hot fudge cake!
I remember Bob's in Torrance, North. My parents would take us for dinner or breakfast. My brother and I would always get a Big Boy cheeseburger and a sundae for dessert. And don't forget the little magazine for kids with all of Big Boy's adventures. That restaurant was there forever. Then it closed down and became a Coco's or something similar. I'm not sure what is in that area now. A couple of years ago a Bob's opened by our house in South Torrance, But it didn't make it. Now it's a Black Bear diner.
I grew up knowing Bob's Big Boy as Shoney's here in north Georgia. I'm 56, and we ate there a LOT. It was a popular night out with friends and after church, too. Their salad bar and breakfast bar were bangin'! Sadly, all area locations here have closed down.
This was another great review!!! We don’t have Big Boy in Canada but I do remember stopping at one years ago when visiting the US… You are doing great only 30,000 to 100,000 you are on your way woot woot
Wow, such great memories! I still try to go to this Bobs whenever I am back in the area. We always get the Big Boy combo, a chili spaghetti for the table, and hot fudge cake. Yuuuummmm!
This is where we go eat a late dinner/breakfast after visiting Universal Studios during the week. All the restaurants close early over there, even in CityWalk, so we did a quick search and stumbled on this location. Now it's our favorite way to end the day after Universal Studios since it's only a 10ish minute drive away.
That Pappy Parker's Chicken is new to me. Been going to Bob's since I was a kid. As a kid, I always got the Chili Spaghetti half order. Now adays it's the Big Boy Combo with a Coke. Adding Bob's Blue Cheese Dressing is my Favorite.
I was hoping they still had the hot fudge cake and they do! I miss Bob's in Hawaii. Definitely have to hit that place up next time we're in LA! Thanks for sharing Bill and Lisa!
Hi Bill! Hi Lisa! How fun! I would definitely make the drive over for some nostalgic eats. I love chicken and waffles! There’s something about sweet and savory for me. I do have to say, that the garlic bread, definitely brought back memories! I could almost taste the char from the griddle! Thank you both for sharing your yummy dishes!! Take care!
This was my favorite lunch spot when I worked in North Hollywood. I would see a number of celebrities there because the NBC, Warner Bros, and Universal Studios' are very close by.
Thanks for doing this review of Bob’s Big Boy. I lived in La Mirada in the 60’s when I was very young and we went to the one on Whittier Blvd in Whittier. One month we were family of the week (or month) don’t remember for sure. Hot fudge cake is still our families’ fav dessert. So nostalgic! I always love watching your travels and eats. Now even my husband suggests turning on You Tube to see what you guys are up to.
AT BOB’S BIG BOY, WE LOVE GOOD FOOD JUST LIKE YOU DO…… ON THE DRIVE TO LAS VEGAS FROM SAN DIEGO, WE ALWAYS STOP AT ONE OF THE LAST BIG BOYS TO RELIVE MY CHILDHOOD AND HAVE SOME GREAT FOOD.
Another great video!!!😊😊 used to go there in the early 80s in torrance. I remember those burgers!!! I remember those milkshakes in a metal cup that you had to use a spoon !!! ❤ the dessert looked really good😊😊😊 after seeing the video makes me want to take a trip to try it again!!!!❤❤❤❤ glad you shared this throwback!!!😊😊😊😊 can't wait to see your next adventure ❤❤❤❤
Great to see a Bob's Big Boy review.. I miss the one they had here in Torrance. But have you ever tried another icon... Dinah's Fried Chicken on Sepulveda Blvd, just a couple miles north of LAX... Their chicken is to die for... I normally go on Mondays and Thurs' for their all you can eat chicken plate. Theyr'e known for their chicken, but they have all other good stuff their too. You do get that 1960's vibe when you visit. They even filmed a Hell's Kitchen episode there! You gotta review that one!
We had a Bob's Big boy in Riverside CA. ! Awesome ! 75 Years ! Bill & Lisa how about checking out Big Bear Restaurant ! They have homemade pies ! I know they are nation wide ! Thank you for sharing ! I love never frozen items ! Yummy tummy Goodies !
