Just want to say thanks again for doing this reaction to this brilliant song. It’s addictive. His voice, his lyricism, the insanely catchy chorus. It’s just so good and it never gets old. As we say in the UK, he’s a proper genius.

Dylan sings in metaphor, allowing you to craft your own connection to the song. Few of his songs are straightforward in imagery though they may be straightforward in message.

Dylan truly is captivating. There’s some heavy hitters on this song. Robbie Shakespeare and Sly Dunbar on the rhythm section giving it that authentic reggae feel. Also have dual guitars from the great Mick Taylor (Ex Stones) and Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) as well as keys from Alan Clark also from the Dire Straits.

Your appreciation of Dylan's voice and, moreover, his messages makes me want to see you react to so many of my favorites - Masters of War, God on Our Side, Hurricane, Sara, Girl From the North Country, Tangled Up in Blue, - I could go on and on . . .look forward to seeing some in the future. xox

Teez, Cool to see a young man into Dylan. Dylan has such powerful lyrics. He forces you to hear and forces you to look in the mirror. Seems some people can't handle looking in the mirror. Whenever I hear someone say they don't like Dylan, I really wonder (not so much in a good way) about that person. Enjoy your channel. It's cool to see how much you enjoyed the music! Keep up the good work!!!

Good to see someone going slightly "off piste" with their Dylan choices. Jokerman is fantastic. Might I recommend "Abandoned Love" which should have been on the "Desire" album but didn't see the light of day until the "Biograph" compilation. Also "Changing of the Guard" from Street Legal is well worth a listen.

You've got to put this into historical context. This was the original MTV. Before MTV. The images used also hold great historical context. Put every line and every image together. The editing of this video was well ahead of its time. And then there are the lyrics. Social, historical, biblical, it's all there. One of the great Dylan performances.

I'm not a fan of 80s Dylan at all, and I know a lot of others don't love it. But it's still cool seeing people check it out. If you get any 60s or 70s Dylan requests, always go for them. It's an endless treasure chest of music. Gates Of Eden. Ballad Of A Thin Man. Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll. All of those are easy ones to like and look into. Guaranteed to like. You might get some 80s requests and if you dig them, that's awesome! Just know that a lot of people kind of shy away from MOST of Dylan's 80s work. His vocals were weird for a lot of it. I know some people won't agree and all, but just letting you know what the mass appeal is at.

I agree this song is literally incredibly good. Dylan says that he does not know where his songs come from. He is probably honest, you cannot write songs like Jokerman and others on Infidels, and many more of course, by an act of the will. Like your low-key comments also, suit the context well.

This is one several of Dylan's "comeback" albums. Truth is, he has never needed to make a comeback, all of his albums are great, IMO, some just rubbed his fan base the wrong way. And as far as critics are concerned, for the most part they are just a bunch of blowhards with an agenda to fulfill. Every track on this album is at least good, many are great.
