The best way to describe Bob Dylan in the latest part of his career is that he sounds like a mad man. Insanity. I believe he's not mad, and knows exactly what he's doing, and I can't blame him for that. I feel grateful that he's still singing.
How can one not adore a man so sure of himself, and so accomplished, that he simply goes out there and presents himself exactly as he feels like doing so?
Because you pay to see him live and he doesnt put a smidge of effort into his performances? This is one of THE worst things Ive ever heard from a mainstream musician.
@@jcselement Ye dude wtf is this. I like a lot of bob dylan songs and heard he was still touring so I looked this up and... why the hell hasn’t this man retired?
I like the fact he changes the way the music sounds. He isn't the same 26 years old Bob Dylan. He's a old man who still play with the same love and fire. My hero!
He's almost 79. Go back and listen to his recordings if you want to hear what he sounded like at 22. I think he's amazing for a lot of reasons, and it's just another one that he won't quit. Rock on!
As much as I love Dylan and his work, and I promise you he is such a great artistically inspiration for me, this live performance isn’t great/good. No matter your influence you have to deliver for what the crowd has paid for, if you can’t then you should pull the plug in time. To be harsh...Knowing that a lot of people will hate me for this...This crowd is only happy because of the fact that they are watching Bob Dylan live more then they are enjoying/appreciating the music, simple because the music is close to being “unenjoyable/unappreciable”. I mean this is the greatest respect for his art, but this performance from a musical state is bad. Excuse me for my English.
@@danieljohansen2049 I understand your point. And I've had that thought at his concerts too. He's not what he was. But he can't be because that was a long time ago. He's old. My grandfather couldn't even stand up at his age. I think it's more about seeing him than it is getting your concert groove on. The people going to see him know that they are seeing a living musical legend who may know he won't be doing this much longer.
A perfect early night with setting sun. The maestro, band and people - young and old - in the audience all in a great mood. Will remember this one forever.
This pumped me up!!! Seeing such a legend being in such terrible state but still performing with a smile on his face is absolutely amazing! If I'm successful with my music I aspire to be just like Bob. I LOVE YOU BOB!!!
Tat PK i totally agree. And we are fortunate that he’s here!!!! He easily could’ve died years ago and we just say he was gone too soon. But instead he’s with us still :)
Thank you, you just made my morning. Had a rough day yesterday but my deep belly laughs at your observation has brightened my outlook. Spot on. Thank you. Thank you too Robbie Z!
Dear Bob, you are the sunshine in my life. The, energy you'r sending is good for heart and soul. Wonderful performance, as usually your band fade away to a beige bunch, I saw Tony's hat, that's all I noticed of the band. Cause you Bob, are a bright star, "Stealing the limellight", no it's your Charisma in motion. love Cheers Britt 🍷♥️
God love the man, he’s still performing! He don’t need the cash. He could be yachting in the Mediterranean. So why does he? He actually looks like he’s having fun, which wasn’t true for many decades. He reminds me of an old Hollywood diva, no longer beautiful but amazed at the magic that used to be effortless. I honestly believe he’s thinking, “Damn, this is a great song. I am a helluva song and dance man.”
It often has a lot to do with the sound system.I found that out after hearing him in Oklahoma and Texas where the Sound systems were unbelievably crappy ...I heard people grumbling about how he just mumbled the lyrics with an intolerable gravely voice. When I got to New York for the run of shows at the Beacon I realized it wasn't him it was the for shite sound systems. In NY every note , every single word I could hear. Just beautiful! Off point but that this man has been singing for 2 hours a day for 4 o5 night a week for Years. On Murder Most Foul I think he sounds great! Warm even. I think he is one of the great singers of our time. He is always on key. His phrasing is an entire art form in and of itself. But I never, NEVER try to convince someone that he is such a master with his voice. Some can hear it and others...not so much.
When chided for his voice; he once responded... But if you listen very closely, you'll find that I hit every one of the song's notes. ''There are artists who'll wrest us up, & place us into themselves. These are the (One's Who'll Continue) wresting us up... Even beyond their appointed rests in peace.'' -gilpin 42320
Some people have absolutely no concept of what a marvel it is that Bob is still touring and he deserves the utmost respect for all that he has given and still gives us! Some of you who say you are fans and then you put down his singing... his hair? Give me a break I wonder what you accomplish in life that even comes remotely close to Bob Dylan!!! Do you have any concept of what it takes to tour like him at his age no less! Selfish ingrates! Go look in the mirror and give yourself a talking to and don’t leave until you actually find out what it means to be valiant, brave, intelligent, deep, inspiring, tenacious, brilliant, authentic, generous, and phenomenal. Then give your self a slap and realize that you still don’t get Bob Dylan at all. So maybe just shut up because you just don’t get it!!!
I get it all right. I've been getting it since 1962 and it's been a great ride. But it has to stop now - it should have done some time ago. That's what would earn him respect for me.
Mr. Moss I’ve been listening almost as long and I’ve certainly listened to pretty much everything! My point is that Bob doesn’t owe anyone anything. You think because you’ve been a fan it gives you the right to tell an ARTIST when he/she should quit??? People are hollow and shallow disrespecting Bob it’s outrageous to me! If you are a listener just to critique a performance then you are missing the true art of the music and the words and the phenomenal man that creates that art! We are so blessed to have Bob still sharing his life arts journey with us! His voice and his hair do not matter to anyone who is not just a superficial and fickle fan! Don’t try and justify it to me because I’m with Bob to the end and well beyond. You should check out his performances at Hyde Park on July 12, 2019” [He’s]got everything he needs, he’s an artist he don’t look back.” Perhaps you’re stuck in the past. Anyway listen to what you want to what ever year you want but you will never convince me that Bob should quit!!! I hope he sings himself right into eternity!
@@helenatheslug1102 How can you compare an absolutely unique artist to a model who is unfortunately meant to be judged solely by outward appearance? And even so, I'm pretty sure Moss may still be relevant at 78, at least as a statement for this shallow world, should she want to. Turning to Bob Dylan, he can sing however he wants, he's fucking Bob Dylan. I thank God he's healthy and still experimenting with his own music and doing live shows.
I have listen a lot to Bob Dylan songs , in my " younger Days ... He is a great Artist , have written so many great songs , for over many years , He have my deepest respect !!
I love Bob Dylan, he is one of the greatest American songwriter ever. But if he played this version of Like a Rolling Stone, I would ask for my money back
@@masonmcclure6387 I took my kids a few years ago and my son's friend said it best: "You are paying to be in the presence of Dylan." You either get it or you don't....
Wonderful! I love his creativity in his vocals, at some points i can still hear the tone of his voice from the 60s peaking out, So cool! Love love love
He looks good. Nice seeming him without a hat. It's interesting it's on a big monitor in the arena because Dylan usually never allowed that in the past.
Thanks Bob, it was a great performance. Your charm is outstanding. I love you just as much now, as i always have. You hit my soul every time, when u sing. You seems to enjoy, performing, your smiling face Makes me feel good. ♥️♥️♥️🙏🏼
No matter how sing, I settle for just watching it live, Bob Dylan is everything, a great genius. 6:03 Charlie realizes he hit a bad note. Lol I want him to be immortal... until dooms day.
@@JESSAH. im just saying he's 80, and still out there entertaining. He sounds like an failing transmission full of sawdust but got to give the man credit.

It may not be a great version but seeing him smile at times here makes up for it. Rock on Bob! No matter how sing, I settle for just watching it live, Bob Dylan is everything, a great genius.
This one is definitely like the version of the song that I heard when he played it at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater when I saw him on Saturday October 20th 2018. Believe it or not I could sense some tension in the crowd leading up to it that some people were starting to walk out (I guess they were expecting him to perform the songs just as they had been recorded) maybe Bob sensed it too, because he broke out into like a rolling Stone and people immediately sat back down. For me it was an incredible night getting to see the man who through his own voice and music encouraged me to start singing and playing the harmonica as well as writing my own songs. Thank you Bob and wherever you are, I hope you are doing well and you are happy!
Listen up ~ in my view ~ Bob is sooo iconic ~ he could read his word/poetry with melodies in background ~ And i would not care ~ he is a legend ~ just seeing him was great ~ a couple years ago ~ i said to myself ~ " the things this individual was a part of or next to ~ in so much world culture, is earth rattling ~ from the beatles to johny cash.....Dylan can just stand there, and i would love it, just millions of others would agree ! He's a christian and a living legend. God bless Dylan !!
I like this version quite a bit. A friend pointed out to me that his speaking rhythm sounds a lot like William Shatner nowadays, can't unhear that now. Still cool af.
Channelling Tom Waits and Scooby Doo? Kudos to the pedal steel (?) player behind him who must be thinking "now what?" I love this version. Bob gives 0 effs.
@@cv-bo5to Listen to Like A Rolling Stone, Knockin On Heavens Door. I'd say he had a good voice, especially for his style. If you compare back then to now, forget about it.
I was there in first line... it was a week ago and still can't believe that I saw him, it was one of the Best experience of my life! Do you have a video of when he did a girl from the north country? I think that was the most beautiful moment of the whole festival :)
There are videos of Bob's current version of Girl From The North Country on RU-vid,.Though it's good, more like a poem with music, I prefer the previous arrangement with its beautiful cascading melody. I saw Bob doing that one at Hammersmith Apollo in 2003, when an ex-girlfriend of mine was slowly losing her fight with cancer. When he sang about her hair rolling and flowing it made me think of Lisa, as when her cancer had returned and was diagnosed as terminal she had decided to forego any treatment so she could keep her long hair - she'd lost it the first time due to the chemotherapy. Less than a month after I heard Bob sing it she died. I still miss her as much now as I did then.
@@BackToTheBlues I am very sorry to read that... I think is amazing the power of music to make us think of people or memories by listening to some lyrics in an specific moment of our life... I hope everything goes well for you now :)
Very cool and I always love Dylan's new song arrangements. Charlie hits a wrong chord at the end and everyonme cracks up. You either get Dylan...or you don't. It's all good.
Excelente interpretación. Es genial tener planos de Herron concentrado en el piano, a Recile y Sexton riéndose ante el pequeño pifie de la guitarra. Se los ve mas humanizados. Muchísimas gracias.
Once upon a time you dressed so fine Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall' You thought they were all kidding you You used to laugh about Everybody that was hanging out Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging your next meal How does it feel, how does it feel? To be without a home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Ahh you've gone to the finest schools, alright Miss Lonely But you know you only used to get juiced in it Nobody's ever taught you how to live out on the street And now you're gonna have to get used to it You say you never compromise With the mystery tramp, but now you realize He's not selling any alibis As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes And say do you want to make a deal? How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, with no direction home A complete unknown, like a rolling stone Ah you never turned around to see the frowns On the jugglers and the clowns when they all did tricks for you You never understood that it ain't no good You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you You used to ride on a chrome horse with your diplomat Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat Ain't it hard when you discovered that He really wasn't where it's at After he took from you everything he could steal How does it feel, how does it feel? To have on your own, with no direction home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Ahh princess on a steeple and all the pretty people They're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made Exchanging all precious gifts But you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe You used to be so amused At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used Go to him he calls you, you can't refuse When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal How does it feel, ah how does it feel? To be on your own, with no direction home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Righteously stated Daniel. When considered how close Bob is to the great party in the afterlife... Hell he's just a warmin' up for all those great past artists already awaiting him; whilst he's thumbing his nose to those artists left behind in fear of following suit. Meanwhile... For me the lyrics are more important to the delivery with dylan. 10 years ago when I didn't know who he was, if I heard this I would say it's just some dazed old coot rambling along with elevator music. But as a fan, familiar with bobs stories and his style, all I want to do is watch him tell me the story however he wants; even with no music at all. He's the only artist I've ever felt that way about.
