Watching Bob M. made me wonder if the advancement of his level of playing over , say, 50 years ago will also increase over the next 50 years? If it did---- Wow! What would THAT be like? Sounds like his abilities are in both classical and jazz--- yes?

+Gerald Nichols To clarify: If the level of virtuosity Bob [and Paul/others] have reached advanced this much in the last 50 years, what if it did the same in the next 50 years?

Pentatonic scales are fantastic and there isn't as many so it becomes much easier to pick up on. Guitarists use them quite a bit, in fact, that's how i got exposed to them and it helped me in obtaining a stronger grasp on theory learning them. Learning guitar and translating it to trombone(as weird as it sounds) was a serious lightbulb moment!

WOAH. I just clicked on a random part of the video, and it was about how extending your thumb allows you to have less movement in your arm and such. That's exactly what I have been having trouble with, and boy, this is gonna help.

Excellent as always. This stuff about the mass of the forearm, and the movement of the horn is SUPER IMPORTANT. I originally got some of this stuff from either The Art Of Trombone by Kleinhammer or a similar book by Dennis Wick. You can see with players like Bill Watrous that moving the horn, or the chops, or anything, really is to be avoided. It winds up being important, but not an absolute. For slower stuff, some movement will not always destroy the good effect (of course, why take the risk?). It's a good idea to try to adopt the HABIT, though, of being conscious about avoiding moving the horn, and introducing "bumps" into the horn during critical passages. Bob is really "the man" of this stuff. Very, very good.

Fabulous musician. I will say I do not prefer the choppy style of jazz with splattered notes everywhere like shrapnel just because they can.

He's definitely a talented trombonist; but I have no idea if he's a good teacher.

He’s moving very fast in this rapid paced video. These concepts takes years and years to develop.
