I would say 50% of sitcom main characters (quite a few can be developed just depends on which ones you watch) but yeah I kinda agree but we are selling it a bit too much, I have seen characters like him before on sitcoms, and exchanges like this but what makes them funnier than most of the live action ones I have seen is how nonchalant it is. (Yes I know nobody cares just saying). :/
A gay man hitting on a (mostly) straight man, and most of the humour comes from “there are a lot of guys who don’t care about looks” and calling him a “sloppy bear”, and the fact that the guy is gay isn’t the punchline? This is epic
@@juanitalingle3487 I think his "maybe going to the beach" was more born out of desperation from his insane family life than latent bisexuality 🤣 But hey, it's a spectrum, isn't it?
@@juanitalingle3487 You're very dumb. "i mean he literally says he's not straight so there's that too". Isa G was talking about Bob, NOT YOU. And the "(Mostly) straight man" was referencing back to Bob, and how that's what he said. God, talk some reading lessons why don't you.
Dr. Zebra no. stan will never accept his kids for what they are since he keeps relearning that lesson. hank hill has the same problem too. bob accepts his son as a cheerleader or transvestites in his cab or if his wife goes to a nude beach or a certain club. if anything what he doesn't accept is mundane in comparison like lobsterfest
+Dr. Zebra Open-minded is not a word I'd associate with Stan Smith. He may come to terms with some things in the end, but first and foremost he's a close-minded, overly-patriotic idiot.
I love that Bob is canonically bisexual but ALSO in a married and happy relationship with Linda. It is a good representation where being gay isnt the punchline. It is also good to show a normal ordinary bisexual man as a family guy in a committed relationship where often bisexuals are seen as promiscuous because they happen not to care about the gender of their significant other. It s very subliminal this message. Bisexual people can be anyone. It can be your married aunt or your neighbor or your deli guy....
There was an episode I really liked where Tina and Daryl faked being a couple so Daryl could get a girl... and at the end Tina says there are no leagues, that the girl never thought she was out of Daryl's league... it was cute it was trying to tell people to not think they aren't valid to try and put themselves out there
@@Hugs_4_Bugs_ I am not sure if Linda would want Bob to "do it" with the deli guy. Linda does not like her parents living in a seniors community of swingers.
I think it’s real cute how Bob didn’t want to go out with the deli guy not only because he’s married, but also because he doesn’t want the guy the cheat on his boyfriend. Bob asserted that the deli guy loves Tony and to stay with him as well as to call him. ☺️
If this conversation is happening in front of me in any grocery store I am in I am going to stop and stare too. That’s the most interesting this that would happen to me all week and I need to find out what is going to happen.
I love how the jokes are changing. Years ago the joke would've been Bob's horror at being mistaken for gay, but now it's just kind of awkward because he's married and really does just want a turkey.
Family Guy needs to rely on shock humour to relate to their audience. Bob's Burgers proves you can make a great animated show without all that unnecessary pandering and meaningless insults.
Having characters who care for each other makes the situations feel much more genuine. A loving support structure takes work, and it's funny when things come into to try in disrupt it, but in the end it still stands. This show and Parks & Recreation are great examples of that. Family Guy would be better if it just transformed into an animated Sketch Comedy Show, like SNL. Same characters, but with scenes completely unrelated to each other. The semblance of a family in the Griffin household is completely shot, so there's really no need to have it anymore.
0:40 I like how the subtle emphasis is “sloppy” implies Bob is familiar with the term “bear” and chooses to ask for more information rather than resist the label.
Ah fuck man! That would have been an awesome ending instead of the actual one we got. Halfway through the episode I called it that it was going to be Bob walking in his sleep.
So, in that premise: a gay guy broke into this family's house late at night to destroy their Thanksgiving dinner REPEATEDLY so that he could see Bob and have him spend more money that he can't afford, all to get into his pants? Wholesome....
Listen. I've never seen Bob's Burger. Never in my life. But I come back to this fucking video all the time because it is just TOO GOOD. It's just the funniest shit for some reason.
Vinter You should definitely watch more of it. The whole series was up on netflix before getting taken off recently (sadly). I'm not sure but it could be up on hulu
This pretty much how it feels to get attention for the first time by a person who genuinely finds you either interesting or attractive. Its arkward because you don't expect it.
Who cares? Who gives a fuck if he said "mostly straight" in a single moment in a single episode of made up cartoon? And since you are so insanely obsessed with the sexuality of fictional characters, let me ask you this: Do you think Bob would cheat on his wife? No? Then who cares if he's bi, straight or fucking polka-doted, he ain't screwing anyone else!
chubby walrus or it confirms that you're just a homophobe who cant deal with the fact that a character might be anything but straight. just because it's a comedy show doesn't mean that the characters can't have personalities. bob is not straight, deal with it.
You know Bob really cares about perfecting his turkey because he's willing to keep getting into this situation just to get the right brand. Also, the smile on the woman on the left at the end is funny.
That lady in purple at the end looked so happy for them. She probably went home and told her friend about the cutest thing she saw at the store that day.
"I'm married. But if I wasn't.... Who am I kidding you're out of my league!" I'm gonna see you tomorrow! "Probably not....... I'll call you!" Omg I wish bi bob happened more often in the show XD
Bi Bob happens a lot in the show though... remember he made out with that steer? Everyone thought it was a female cow but he immediately knew it was a male because the first thing he noticed was its package... what does he dream about? That same steer, in a romantic way, Bob initially turns down the advance... but caves in and hot damn do they make out hard. Not many people have romantic dreams involving a sex they aren't attracted to, I never have
I think being told "there is a group of guys out there that doesn't care how you look like" is the worst insult one can receive disguised as wanting to help.
Likewise "Also I'm married, but if I wasn't- who am I kidding?! You're out of my league. It would never work" is a great compliment to say to someone while letting them know you're loyal to your spouse.
"I'm married. But if I wasn't....who am I kidding, you're way out of my league. It would never work." "I'm gonna see you tomorrow!" "Probably not...I'll call you"
I love how homophobia used to be a cheap gag, but now it's much more funny (and a million times more charming) to see a character with absolutely no gay panic whatsoever :) I like how the world is evolving.
A lot of sitcoms would probably have the sitcom Dad be visibly grossed out by the deli guy in this situation. What makes this scene super charming is that Bob is accepting and somewhat open to the idea, he’s just very socially awkward
It’s amazing just how many people are going out of their way and digging in their heels to deny any that Bob is bisexual. If you have a problem with a non-straight character, Bob’s Burgers is not the show for you.
Yeah lol. I'm pretty sure the line of thinking those people are having is "wait, _that_ qualifies him as bisexual, and I thought that one guy was cute that one time... OH MY GOD AM I GAY TOO?! NOOOOOO, NOW GOD HATES ME".. or something like that. I also think there's a slightly more legitimate argument being made, but its still not a very good argument because it boils down to semantics: some people would consider any level of same sex attraction to qualify one as "bisexual", and others might not. For example, I find lots of guys attractive. Hot, even! Do I want to sleep with them? Not at all. Do I want to kiss them? Nope. Do i want to date them? Also no. Would I get a little flustered if they talked to me? Absolutely! Does that make me bisexual? Maybe. Maybe not. As far as I can tell its a spectrum and basically nobody on earth is 100% straight or 100% gay, we mostly fall somewhere in between. Anyway, this interaction at the very least makes him either "bisexual" or "bicurious", which are not very different, I'm sure you'd agree. However, that *does* seem to be a meaningful distinction to homophobes for some reason... probably so they dont have to think too hard or something. It's literally a cartoon.. people being angry at a cartoon character for having a [rather adorable] interaction with another man is.. a poor use of time and energy, to say the least.
I love how Bob doesn't get offended by being mistaken for gay. He's a live and let live kinda guy. Accepting of everyone. Sure he has his times of over-reacting, but who hasn't??
Yeah, all the awkwardness just came from him wanting to get his damn turkeys and split (and also having deli guy think he doesn't know how to cook).

Well, Bob is low-key canonically bisexual. Remember: he's _only mostly_ straight, so assuming Bob could be gay was still _partially correct!_ Miracle Max explained "mostly dead = still partially alive" to Inigo Montoya and Fezzik in _The Princess Bride._ The same principle applies, here! If you didn't see that movie when you were seven, like most of us, then I suggest you fix that; it's an amazing film!
@ oh man I fricken love *The princess bride* for sure! That movie is one of those movies that will always be fun to watch even in 30 years from now. And yes, Bob has had more than one time where he spoke of his sexuality and though he is married and prefers women over men, it's obvious that he's most definitely done some expirementing in his earlier years.

@@joeyj5924 oh, totally! If not actually "experimented," he's at least thought about it. 🏳️🌈 Plus, and I say this as A Gay (who's mostly had bi- boyfriends -including one guy who I knew was somehow _Not Hetero,_ simply by how much '80s synthpop and Italo Disco he listens to! 😆), Bob gets WAY to excited about Donna Summer's music to be any more than "mostly straight!"
@ damn it I was going to fix my last message with a better pun at the end and in middle, but ended up deleting it because it didn't make sense anymore lmao.but I also wanted to say that Bob ain't the only one in the show who has had thoughts lol . Hugo also mentioned how gorgeous Jimmy Pesto was on more than one occasion. And then there's Jyro. Not sure about Jyro lol. hoy lol that show is awesome.
@@fisheggs6755 Exactly. I really like that about this show. The fact that Bob is subtly bi is good enough, we don't need it shoved in our faces because then it seems desperate. Like, they don't make it a point that he's bi, you can just tell and I love that.
@@prageruwu69 honestly I'm gay and the Lgbtq need's to shut the fuck up. they got plenty of rights, now working it out with the rest of the world is your own problem.
i love how this isnt a joke at the expense of the lgbt community and instead has jokes like "sloppy bear" which is a joke specifically for the lgbt community also the deli guy is one of my favorite characters from the show
Idk where I heard or read this but for such a small character you learn so much about the deli in such a short time. Hes not some NPC that spawned when Bob walked in, he's got a life and problems and funny terms and we see multiple sides of him. This show in so many occasions are delivering master classes
Bob saying he’s mostly straight wasn’t the main indication that he was bisexual. But Bob saying “even if I wasn’t married... who am I kidding, your out of my league. It would never work” was the main indication.
Ian Larsen Bob is bi, it’s a fact and even he confirmed it in the video himself. It’s been known for a long time, and recently he confirmed it on this video, he could’ve easily just stayed with “im straight” but he said “im mostly straight” he’s bi but that’s okay it really doesn’t matter weather or not he’s bi
I don't care whether the character is bi or not but I don't think this episode proves he is. This is normal for Bob's character. When he is taken out of his comfort zone he tries to assert himself but when others keep going on it gets him flustered. That makes him utter things that shows the other person is getting inside his head and triggering thoughts. Maybe he is bi or maybe he's simply had moments where he thought another guy looked attractive (maybe even this one). I personally think he is exactly as he says he is..."mostly straight." He isn't looking to do something with another guy but isn't fazed by the idea either. Either way it makes for great scenes like this one.
