Bob's Burgers is a fairly simple show but can show off that it can handle major subjects. In one episode, it tackles the dangers of being working for the system with Tina, Gene, and Louise having to handle running a business. They find it harder than they thought it would be. I go over just how this show tackles this subject. #bobsburgers #louisebelcher #tinabelcher

Bob's Burgers isn't a stranger to anti-capitalism themes. There's this episode where Mr. Fishroeder raises rent and makes all his tennants fight each other in a Hunger Games esque balloon fight for his amusement.

Oh yeah that's another example and highly doubt having this option for the striking writers happening now would solve that situation either and also I can say good video on the above.

Yeah, Mr. Fishroeder is kind of the main villain of the series which is even more anti-capitalist

This episode was a perfect example of how companies co-opt unions and turn them against the workers. This co-optation occurs when companies offer union leaders incentives, such as higher salaries or benefits, in order to sway them towards making decisions that benefit the company rather than the workers, just like what happened with Tina. This episode was a great example of how the capitalist system uses its power to undermine workers rights and interest due to having the ability to control not just the means of production, but also the political and social structures that affect workers.

Bob's Burgers: "Tweentrepreneurs" introduced us to " business monster" Tina, who bought into the management side. Jimmy Jr. was OK with "switching roles, but Tammy and Jocelyn weren't about to deal with wood dust, splinters, and wood stain fumes.

It's probably a good idea for Bob's Burgers to make a message without being exactly like the real world problems that is happening like South Park usually does because otherwise it would cause a messy discourse of what the show is telling their audience. BB manage to make a clear point about capitalism and socialism without using a real world business to give an example. They just use something simpler like the school kids making up their own business to make a much more calming message about standing up against CEOs who makes luxuries for themselves on the backs of their own employees. It helps to get the message across that also helps get the audience to agree on.

The writers messed up my favorite character. No way would Louise become a line worker. Remember when she was running a painting business. I can't stand when writers forget their character's abilities.

The Simpsons was Originally about the middle class family of america the struggles the problems and everything else but now they go on to meet celebrites then can afford high stuff and more i Don't know maybe it became more of a sitcom like simpsons where nothing matter or it was a show that how little to do about the middle class more about the america life But all of that Bob burger Followed it's concept to a t where the family is very Poor and is struggling but they love' Happiness and they adventure are wholesome and i think it's a great message about it that Because you don't have the high life cars money yachts that doesn't mean you are happy it's the people' friends and families that you have. Sorry about the rant great video great to hear about your bob's burger videos keep up the videos your cartoons ❤

The show is a great model for finding fulfillment in people rather than things. Happiness starts within you and then spreads out to others. The problem with anti-capitalist themes is the hyper focus on money and counting other people’s money and feeling entitled to other people’s money. It’s not that important and the more we place importance on it the more we perpetuate things we claim to be against.

I work on the corporate side of a company that has a production side (making stuff and shipping it) and a corporate side (accounting, IT, execs, marketing, sales). We all work hard, but there's definitely an effed up power dynamic. Production workers are not treated the same as corporate workers. It's not fair at all and as somebody who used to do more manual labor than desk work I sometimes feel uncomfortable with the way my colleagues talk about the production side workers. Luckily enough of us in this specific company are good at advocating for them when it comes to certain things like payroll, but a lot of companies don't have a corporate staff who will do that, or an executive staff who will listen. It's good that shows like this talk about this stuff. It's not that everyone should be working production (people who have certain disabilities can't, for instance), but pay should be the same for everyone. Even execs. Paying people with desk jobs more only makes sense if you think that people will only seek advanced education in order to make more money, but I don't think that's true. I think some people would naturally want to work production and others would naturally want to do desk work if both were equally compensated and respected. No job is more important than any other so why do we treat it that way?

From each accordin to ability, to each accordin to need Ppl will do what they want to do with their life, and some ppl genuinely do want to do menial labour as its often viewed. My (albeit horrid for many reasons) biodad is a grt example of that i feel as he legit studied in college to be an accountant and then as he nesred the finish line it dawned on him he absolutely did not want to work in an office. so he quit college and got a job loggin with his brother, and later started his own lawnmowin business; which ofc still benefited from his havin been able to pursue higher ed, as accountant knowledge makes it much easier to know how to manage a business, at least on the financial side of things Ppl do the work they wanna do, its literally that simple. We dont need to incentivise certain labour with bigger pay and even if we did... It shudnt be the corporates that are the incentivised jobs; thats quite often the cushy job that any yahoo wud usually desire to have unless they just rly hate bein cooped up inside all day

My mom started on the production side at her old company and moved to corporate. If she needs anything, the production guys would help her because she actually treats them like her coworkers. Some of the guys even make more than a desk job would, but there is a sense of superiority having a white collared job.

Business failure is an intrinsic part of capitalism. Most businesses will fail, often for pretty simple reasons as shown in the episode (ie can't balance quality, costs and labour). This rewards successful business models and lets bad ones fail. Businesses can cheat to avoid failure via cronyism, where businesses develop a close relationship with government and regulatory bodies that they leverage to hurt competitors or give themselves unfair advantages. Fun fact about socialism, it involves closer relationships between businesses and government & regulatory bodies. TLDR: Businesses failing due to bad choices is capitalism working as intended. Adding a state actor often allows businesses ways to mitigate failure. Source: a Canadian who has to do business with effective state monopolies.

It seems like you’re one-sided people to hate capitalism. capitalism isn’t the problem itself it’s the people behind it. and just by capitalism having problems it doesn’t mean Socialism which is 10 times worse is the answer. You should always treat your workers fair
@MarxistMomentum
@MarxistMomentum Год назад
I think this episode handle the subject very well! Of course they weren't able to talk about all the problems of capitalism in a 22-minute episode, but they were able to cover the basic problems of worker exploitation under the capitalist system in the short time they had.
@MarxistMomentum
@MarxistMomentum Год назад
@@brandonthejobber3674 Capitalism must be abolished because it's an economic system that's inherently exploitative, oppressive, and inequitable. It's a system that concentrates all wealth in the hands of a small group of individuals while workers must sell their labor in order to survive, often being paid low wages, face dangerous working conditions, and have little say in the decisions that affect their livelihoods. Socialism, worker ownership and control of the means of production, is a much better system than capitalism. Within a Socialist society, workers would own and control their workplaces, and the surplus value created by their labor would be distributed equitably amongst everyone resulting in a more democratic workplace where every worker would have a say in the decisions that affect them. Socialism would also allow for greater economic equality and provide a safety net for people who would otherwise fall through the cracks in a capitalist society. I admit that Socialism still has flaws and limitations, but it is by no means a worse system than capitalism. Capitalism creates vast disparities in wealth and power, perpetuates systems of exploitation, and prioritizes profit over human well-being. In contrast, Socialism is a more humane economic system that prioritizes the needs of all people rather than the interest of a small capitalist class. Capitalism is a major obstacle standing in the way of the creation of an egalitarian society based on Mutual Aid and solidarity.

No because criticizing capitalism isn’t just pointing out big businesses have issues. The rest of the show depicts the good side of capitalism by showcasing a man making a life for himself via hard work in a small business. A life with hardships that’s generally gratifying that he made for himself. That is the most pro capitalist show you can come up with. Capitalism isn’t just when big business does something I dislike.

11:34 I actually feel like an AU where they did sell it to Teddy wudve actually been a more awesome version of this story. Teddy is a gullible and ignorant person; but he also isnt power driven, thus makin him a far better leader type than any of the four original leaders (and id argue better than Tina and Louise too, for that) If Teddy had taken over ownership of the business, he wudve no doubt acquiesced to the workers demands and then some; and you know Louise wudve been addin a lot to the and then some xD This wudve been a grt way to see what happens when the means of production are at the sole control of the workers first and foremost; and cud even be a caution against another threat to workers rights... The person who under the new communist regime decides to use their position or privilege or power to exact benefits for themself first and foremost; that is, Louise wud be a grt foil to Tina here and cud likewise abuse her control over Teddy to her own benefit, whilst the rest saw their shares of wealth ever decrease Essentially go full Animal Farm parody on it at that pt heh

It’s not exactly that everyone should do the same thing, but that everyone in a company should work based on a shared interest. Where interests split (good safe product making vs more faster money) is where you start getting issues. And interests are bound to split if people put distance between issues and focuses. It’s not that everyone should do the same, Rudy shouldn’t risk his health to carve wood if he can work on other avenues for the product. The uneven profit division is bad because it alienates people. From the product in the case of the management as they stop thinking about the necessities, first for workers and soon for good product making to cut corners for higher profits, and it also makes the workers alienated from themselves and their own value, what they add to the product, what worth they actually have in the labor process. Even Marx said equality is too simple a standard for complexities of labor. Not everyone can work the same amount of time or the same kind of work, and paying the same amount to people who work less as people who work more is creating an inequality while trying to plug another inequality. That’s the turn in Marx’s work from focusing on the ‘Labor theory of value’ (short version: everyone should be paid by how much their labor adds to products) to the classic:’from each according to their ability, to each according to their need’. Basically decoupling labor from profit entirely, focusing on the good labor can do for people, and focusing on fulfilling the needs of people to create a society more capable of freely engaging in labor (in conditions where labor isn’t Soul crushing but actually satisfying, when workers will no longer be alienated from themselves, each other, and from the products of their labor)
