A lot of people (including myself) often have a colloquial understanding of terms and information. Like people using things like ocd incorrectly because they don't actually know the full implications, having never been told directly and not being directly affected so not bothering to look it up. I'm not saying people shouldn't do their own research but if you have the info, share it rather than trashing anyone who doesn't.

And sure there's a chance they still might, but idk, there's also a good chance they just wouldn't think of it (being teenagers who are already in trouble themselves for robbing a liquor store that just had the shit scared out of them and all). And an equal and possibly better chance that they wouldn't be believed even if they _did_ try to say anything. Their parents and/or the police are likely going to assume they just totaled the car themselves as part of their little crime spree. What are they gonna say? "Actually that one wasn't our fault, Brandon's dad popped up out of nowhere and destroyed the car with a baseball bat while yelling that his name was Two-Toes Johnny!" I'm sure Bob is prepared to fully deny it if questioned, and it's not like anyone has any concrete proof. The kids would probably just prefer to forget this all happened as quickly as possible.
