Good job on this and I enjoyed it a lot. Although centered (rightly) on the USMC, for me it reminds me of my early Army airborne days as my first unit assignment was the 4th/503rd Infantry Regiment, 173 Airborne Brigade (Separate), transitioned to 1st/503rd, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell Ky. Deactivated in 1973 it was known as "The Rock" and is depicted on my Distinctive Unit Insignia as such. In WWII the unit jumped into and captured Corregidor, aptly named The Rock for its' harsh terrain. Afterward the unit was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation and received its nickname "the Rock Regiment" from it. Although this song came out about 15 years later, I am now playing my own movie in my head of a somewhat shorter career of 20 years, 6 months. Again, Thanks to Steven and Bourbon Country Reacts....Bravo Zulu and Semper Fi.
