I came from Daily Dose of Internet and despite the fact that I don't really have plans to learn how to this, watching you do the movements is so relaxing to me. I could watch videos like this for ages. I hope your channel continues to grow as more people take up the hobby!

It’s a rare skill. I’m glad people are keeping it alive. I have arthritis in my hands so I’m not sure I could do it.

My brain is finally starting to understand the movements. When I was younger I was SUPER into making friendship bracelets out of both Gimp and especially Embroidery Thread. In elementary school at recess I could make at least three. I feel like this is the upgraded version of that! What really gets me though is when you have fifty plus bobbins going at once! I'll have to learn slow and steady. Thank you so much again! 💖

You’re going to LOVE bobbin lace! ❤️ We focus on just 4 bobbins at a time, so don’t let the number of bobbins used in a project intimidate you!

I read an instructional book from my local library 10 or 15 years ago about bobbin lacemaking and wanted to try, but got hung up on what I could use for the bolster pillow because I was at a point in my life where I couldn’t invest in buying one, and I was really only aware of the one book on the subject. Seeing the incredible work in your shorts and this video is reawakening that urge. It is such an incredible art. ❤

You just need a firm foam-like surface to work on! One of my moderators used a pool noodle as she got started! 🙌 my bolster pillow is a traditional pillow packed with straw. You can definitely make one at home. 😄

Thank you for this. I did bobbin lace at the Fortress of Louisbourg as a teen many years ago. I bought a bobbin cushion and bobbins years ago but never did anything with it, as I was unsure where to even start. This is a starting place lol! I’ll have to see if I can even find my bobbins now lol

Thank you for this tutorial. I am considering trying this craft, but have some questions about bobbins for a beginner. I have seen long, short, straight, bulbs on the ends, and ones with beaded loops on the end. Which yep do you recommend for a beginner and how many bobbins would a beginner need? Thank you so much for any information.

Heya! Depending which country you're in, you will have an easier time getting your hands on bobbins that are typically used in your area. 🙂 Bobbins vary by culture, location, type of lace being created, preference, etc. I mostly use Galician lace bobbins because I live in Galicia and they're easy to come by. I also prefer them for most work because they have a nice weight to them and help tension the thread.
