Awesome awesome tutorial! The reason why the recording rubs against a modern digital piano is most likely because the producer used a function on the reel-to-reel tape machine called Varispeed, which slightly speeds up the whole recording to make it sound just a touch more energetic and exciting. This was common practice in the 70's and 80's with RnB, funk and pop records and resulted in the songs being tuned slightly sharp of the key they were recorded in.

I noticed the tuning was off while trying to practice this song also. Turns out, studio engineers sped up the tempo ever so slightly while mixing the song the and it caused the shift in pitch.

It was already magic and then you started to sing the intro in that higj tone. Bro you are blessed. Thanks for this great tutorial man!!
