No one would ever teach this swing. It is purely his own.

@riley-arr-g I agree all the fundamentals are there, he's the most celebrated golfer in history but he's wearing a dress shirt and has hickory so some dynamics are different but wow what a weirdo comment. Bobby Jones. Yes definitely do not teach that free flowing beautiful tempo. Instead wrap em into a straight jacket of their own with positions and tucking this and that and xyz factors. And they wonder why handicaps actually go up every year.

Can you imagine what he could do with the equipment today? :-)

Beautiful golf swing. His 'body action' is poetry in motion

It sure is!

He takes it way inside then way across the line at the top. Todays teaching pros would say its terrible and try to change it.
@bigsavagedaddy5960
@bigsavagedaddy5960 Месяц назад
Exactly! This would be called “over the top” and they would proceed to ruin his swing.

Just because he steepens in transition, doesn't mean the swing plane is over the top.

Both heels off the ground at impact.

Deep turn. Reminds me a little of Jake Knapp.

Yeah, good comparison. They both have a very smooth fast motion, kind of just gliding through the ball

Gary Player said he had the best swing he’d ever seen.
@vintagegolffilms
@vintagegolffilms 4 месяца назад
Would agree with that - so natural and smooth. One of the greats from those days used to say you need to swing like it was oily (we oils fluid). I still have that swing thought and try 😊

It was Sam Snead who said ‘keep it oily’

Top of the backswing is so far out of position but he got it back square every time and won almost everything there was available.. doesn’t matter how…
@douglaswesson2458

Yup, looks like he gets the club head well behind him at the beginning of the swing. However as you point out, by the time his hands reach the "V" on the down swing the hands and lag are right where they should be.

Nothing is “out of position” lol. That’s Bobby Jones lol. The only reason you think it’s out of position is because we have been fed “today’s swing”. This is more natural move that most players would be better off trying to do IMO. I’m not trying to be a jerk by the way only trying to say I think I’m with you when I see it but I really think we think that because of the golf channel and the swings that have come like tigers. His swing worked and is great but hard for most to achieve- the older players all have some common aspects that I think are easier to do with a more average body and make it more accessible for us normal people to play our best.

It is actually a great swing in my book - very efficient and smooth! Fantastic striker of the ball. Top top class!!!

Some elements of the swing are not too different from top guys today. The over the top swing on the back is not but the stance and impact positions not too different. He could shift it :-)
@tommo9942

you would have a very hard time swinging like that with todays shafts

Upper torso is behind the ball on downswing which leads to major shanks hitting behind the ball. What gives?
@edl5553

No squat move here, both legs extended at impact.

I swing like this, only with my woods tho. Except I don’t bring it all the way back like he does on the backswing. That’s something I need to try. I’ve been thinking I need to squat for more power, but maybe I could try this
@dudel39
@dudel39 6 месяцев назад
the former doesnt exlude the latter. Modern players both squat and extend. Look at mcilroys swing. At the beginning of the downswing he does a squat move, but by the time he gets to impact hes extended again.
