Bobby is so much more articulate during this podcast. You can see the immense respect between these two that goes back years. What a great conversation.
What's funny about that though is that Key & Peele was much bigger and better, and Bobby Lee, despite being in the same field, could never do anything even close. An Asian man shouting something stupid is only hilarious so many times.
Bobby lee is like a sage. To normal people, he is too much, zany wild, mental. But to other comics he like paved the way and is like royalty. He did have a huge influence on a lot of comics.
@@yaboithegod5007 dude lmao I knew this was a deceptive comment in some way but dear god. Apparently he’s now changing details and stuff but he 100% r-worded a child
@Steven Richter He did hook him up with a years worth of money for a commercial. Dont think he ever had him on Key & Peele, and cant see him putting him in a movie. Hard thing about Bobby is hes a 1 dimensional character. Hes good at acting himself, but anything else and hes over his head
@@zrizzle19 The one where gets robbed by a prostitute and pimp? Yeah your right, thats definitely has nothing to do with his personality. It was good though, I think i saw it after this comment and may have commented on it I was surprised.
@@TigerBellyClips I've never seen an emotion more faked than Khalylah pretending she understands the sunken place. HOLY CRINGE help me father for I have sinned!
That movie was fucking terrible. An overtly racist homage to anti white sentiment, portraying white people as worse than they ever were, even during the heigh of chattel slavery. Speak for yourself. I will never watch another show or movie that this man takes part in.
DJ F Whatever the social implications of Get Out, it was a unique story. I thought it was well done. It didn’t depict all white society as bad, just that particular group of white people. I was more interested in their exploration of “the sunken place.” That was interesting.
@@SusanBaileyAmazingEstate I applaud your reasonable response to this comment. I would not have been as polite. This person is clearly seeing what they want to see out of the movie and so are many other closet racists I come into contact with online.
Tater Tot what truth? I call this movies out for being racist and get accused of being racist for it. Yall are delusional your words mean less than nothing to me, hurt doesnt even enter the equation.
I’ve never heard marijuana described more accurately - I love pot, I really do - but when it comes to execution of a project, it can be kind of difficult with weed in your system
What a group of open minded, open hearted, down to earth humans. This conversation warmed my heart. I always feel more comfortable when I hear others expressing their traumas and addictions while still being able to laugh and be joyful. Blessings to you all ❤️

I love seeing interviews like this between two people that are longtime friends and went through it together. I had a similar feeling recently while watching Jordan on Seth Meyers’ late night show and hearing them talk about their past shenanigans.
japanese people have a weird thing for black people. Haven't you seen dragonball z? Mr. Popo? They took images of black people from 1910-20s France IIRC and they stuck around the culture for a long time
@@Kinuhbud It's just an art style. Japanese weren't as aware that the style of drawing us POC with those big pink lips was something that was used to belittle us and tear us down in America. If you notice more and more recent anime stray away from that style because they're learning about how offensive it was. Now you've got countless dope black anime characters drawn right!
Jordan: After years of smoking weed and being creative, the way I completed this script is by not smoking... Bobby: woooooooooooooooooooooow lmao idk why I found this funny
Going from K and p , to the horror Jordan peele does now, it’s absolutely different than any horror or scary film ever done before. His creativeness is absolutely amazing and otherworldly, and just absolutely never seen before. These plots that play out have never been a horror option in the last scary movie franchises. He’s so unique.
for anyone freaking out-not remembering your dreams isn't linked to depression. studies show that it's linked to consistently achieving deep sleep (which is a good thing). people who often remember their dreams are waking up in the 2nd or 3rd cycle of sleep. the closer you wake from REM the higher the likelihood of remembering your dream, because dreams occur during REM and typically those thoughts are only in the mind for a matter of minutes even though dreams can seem to go on for hours. i know this because i had really bad sleep paralysis as a kid, and that is another symptom of bad sleeping patterns (like not achieving deep sleep)-so i had to go to a doctor for it and they told me all this shit.
@@rhinoxd i mean improving sleep can be done a ton of ways - exercise, diet, not eating late at night, etc. but sleep paralysis can't be "cured" per se - it's stress-related. but i have learned to "wake myself up" out of them, which helps. if you move any part of your body at all, you'll wake up. just takes effort
Im 26, ive been in the sunken place for for the past 5 years now. I want to succeed and be great, but its almost like my mind isn't willing to put in the effort to do it. It started when i was heavily smoking weed in university. Weed is an amazing experience, but it can completely change your brain and not always for the best.
Yo Bobby is a fucking stand up dude, nothing but respect for him really hope he gets out this toxic relationship the dude needs stability and a batch who's loyal, guy deserves to be happy.
@ripdajacker23 Do you smoke weed? I didn't dream for 6 years straight. Then I stopped smoking and I swear my dreams became so vivid that I could lucid dream almost daily. Now not so much, since I'm used to dreaming again.
@@observantmonkey4055 I like the idea of active meditation but I think it is easy to misuse it and apply it to many activities and say "this is meditation as well". If I am buried in my thoughts while walking without paying attention to the act itself or my surroundings etc, I don't think I am meditating. Of course meditation is a very vague and loose concept so you can interpret it however you want.
This reminded me of Key and Peele's "Chef" sketch, where Keegan (Judge Chef) keeps responding with ambiguous answers, and Jordan (Competitor Chef) is continuously confused by the response. lol. Bobby's remark sounded like it was going to be negative initially, but was subtlely positive.
Jordan’s gotta be home especially after get out came out, and just think like damn…. I actually did it and everyone loves it I can’t fuckin believe this
Love Peele but seeing him as his true self shook me. He acts so different then what I imagined he would and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Comes across a little anxious and his personality seems very tame which is cool.
WintersArcher if you’re a lazy person smokin just gonna make it worse. But you definitely still can smoke and be just as productive as anyone else. Joe rogan for example
I like how when bobby asks if get out is a exaggerated version of the black experience jordan peele says (essentially) anyone and everyone has experienced this at some point or can experience it
yeah same. I thought I was the only one who's seen my girlfriend's family members trap their relatives in black peoples' bodies. He really brought that issue to light
I love how podcast interviews constantly switches directions and get completely off track from the original questions. “Why did you have a old Japanese dude with the white people?” Jordan begins talking and the undirected flow of convo just happens and you completely forget the question was even asked! I love it
I understand exactly what Bobby is saying i would have never thought Jordan Peele of all people could direct such an outstanding piece not to mention 'Us' was outstanding. Hes definitely carving his way into the Horror genre. Two amazing films back to back is a good look. Congratz to you Jordan. Highly deserved.
@@chaosswa-ee-ty5911 Just odd to see someone whose known for being a great comedian turn the tides and make horror films. Actual good ones at that, that are creative, well thought out and not the same ol cheese that gets rehashed this day n' age.
No.....just no. Saturday Night Live has almost 50 years behind it. I loved MADtv but it's not even comparable. Look at all the stellar comedians that came through SNL even if for a short period of time. You had Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Chris Farley, John Belushi, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, Phil Hartman, Tina Fay, Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, David Spade, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Steven Martin, Gilda Radner and MANY many more. To be frank MADtv only produced two, three including Bobby but he's of a lesser extent, stars which was Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele. The show was funny but it was nowhere near as funny as SNL in the 70's, late 80's, 90's and early 00's.
Just means Bobby Lee probably doesn’t know a lot about the industry and Abrams was likely the first name that came to mind when thinking of big household director names.
One of my worst times having dreams is getting into a fight and swinging as hard as I can but my punch is in slow-motion even though everything else is in real time.
They weren't allowed to be as creative as they are. Plus, SNL has a lot more pull so, when a competitor shows up being funnier they have the ability to hamstring it quickly.
That's exactly why it was a certain type of wacky humor that excludes alot of people SNL is more political and dry and as we grow I understood SNL and realized Mad TV was like the little wacky brother who hasn't evolved yet
J Nguyen whats wrong with playing what you could easily play. Hes literally an comedian and actor. His job is to play a stereotypical asian if he's payed to do so.
Love this. And totally empathize with Jordan's relationship with weed regarding its effects on creativity. I remember Carlin saying that he would write sober, then smoke and do punch up. Trying to do that myself, I found that as a pothead, I was the exact opposite. Weed or alcohol helps me loosen up enough to be able to start putting words on the page, for sure, but sober me is the one who's capable of actually polishing and finishing things.
I have watched many a horror flicks. Jordan Peele's "Get Out" is to me pioneering. Very original horror flick. It has a good story, talented actors, well done cinematography. But the story's theme screams originality and artistic evolution. Great story telling.
Logan Riki is there a specific horror genre you like most? I'm into scary movies. Kinda stuff like Japanese, Korean, older American horror/thrillers movies. I need to watch get out soon to see how good it is furshur
First Name Last Name As far as genres, I like thrillers and the supernatural. Most of them are American flicks. But, I have seen a pretty good Korean horror movie called "The Wailing". If you have not seen this one check it out.
Logan Riki You guys gotta check out Martyrs. Consistently ranked as number one on most disturbing films lists. IMO one of the...... rawest, roughest horror movies but done very well with a purpose. Not just gross out for gross outs sake. It isnt my number one horror movie, but it is damn close. And it is the one film i will say nothing else has ever been made like it. MAKE SURE ITS THE ORIGINAL IN FRENCH WITH SUBTITLES. The American remake blows
Get regular sleep, eat healthy and a little exercise with no substances can really do wonders. Not to say smoking sometimes for inspiration on your time off isn't okay. Jordan is a big time director now.
Jordan describing his reasons for finally getting a license at his age makes me feel good. I don't have one and I'll be 31 soon. I feel, now like maybe I am not so much of a piece of sh*t. And maybe I'm an ok person.
I'll put the same comment here that I put on the other guys comment. Thirty-six-year-old successful millionaire not having a license it's okay. A 31-year old Regular Joe not having a license is not okay. You should probably get a license.
I was a young high schooler in the mid- 2000s when I started watching MadTV and that’s what really got me into comedy. I ALWAYS loved Bobby lee and Michael McDonald and Debra Wilson on that show.
My anxiety was insane when i first took my license test, failed my first one. Got stoned b4 my 2 attempt and passed easy, dont smoke anymore but weed def helped me when i had anxiety
That party scene in Get Out when all those old white people and old Japanese dude were hanging around was as creepy as that scene in the original Rosemary's Baby. The scene when all the satanists were there to welcome the devil's child. There was an Asian guy in that scene too.
Not that the Asian guy made it creepy, I think it was that the devil is a sicko that spans the whole world and is definitely "international" and goes after everybody.
Bobby's observation about living an exciting life leading to less dreaming is actually very profound. According to Freud, dreams are just the sub-conscious fulfilling your deepest desires, so it makes absolute sense that if someone is content with their life they would have less dreams or less vivid ones at least.
I recently quit a job for new one. My old job, I would constantly have dreams of either dying at work, or fucking up and getting fired. My new job, I sleep way better
There are different stages of sleep. The REM part of sleep is where you dream. Your brain is basically running through situations based on your waking experiences to resolve and make sense of all the information.
