Wow I can’t believe how long wildwood has been around and how I am non-stop listening to this song

Totally underestimated talent. The man could sing, he could dance, and my God, was he ADORABLE!

Every year Wildwood has a 50's weekend at the Convention center think late September. A few years ago they had beleive it was him Frankie Avalon & Chubby Checker appearing. Could kick myself for not going down to watch & listen to them. All 3 used to perform in Wildwood in the late 50's.

I can't believe he still sounds so good. They called him "Mr. Talent" back then, I can clearly 'hear' why. He has that rare singing talent. Wow!!!

On this day in 1963 {April 25th}* Bobby Rydell's manager threw him a 21st birthday party at the Luau 400 Club in New York City... At the time he didn't have a record on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; but ten days later on May 5th his "Wildwood Days" would enter the chart at position #74... And six weeks later on June 16th, 1963 it would peak at #17 {for 1 week} and spent 9 weeks on the Top 100... Between 1959 and 1965 he had twenty-eight Top 100 records; six made the Top 10 with his biggest hit being "Wild One", it peaked at #2 for 1 week in 1960 {the record that was at #1 when "Wild One" was at #2 was "The Theme from A Summer Place" by Percy Faith and His Orchestra}... He just missed having eight Top 10 records when both "Kissin' Time" in 1960 and "Good Time Baby" in 1961 peaked at #11... * The party was off by one night; Bobby was actually born on April 26th in 1942...

Here is a class act, who has enough respect for his music that he keeps himself sounding and looking great. Many of the artists of that area sound awful. Not this guy !! Thanks for posting

@rickysbestgirl Glad you got to see him! I saw him at a Rock and Roll show in New York many years ago. Loved those shows. You'd get to see about 10 top acts in one show. . The good old days! I believe Murray the K was the emcee! 1010 WINS N.Y was his radio station.

@MrAjlombardo My mother used to always say that Bobby Rydell had the real talent but that Frankie got all the accalades.

There is another song about Wildwood that nobody seems to know about or you probably would have heard it playing there. It was recorded in 1955 but was previously unreleased.It is available now though.

This was at Wolf Trap in Virginia, July, 1985.
