The Goffin/King team wanted Dion in Dion and The Belmont's to record to this at first, but he didnt want to make a single of it but put it on his coming album. Dion recorded really well on his album but it went to the charts with Bobby Vee who did it excellently.
My girlfriend left me and cheated on me couple years back I messaged the guy that she was fooling around with and I quoted this song. I hope he’s taking good care of my baby. I love this song
It's really funny how the keyboardist has the whole Ray Manzarek rig-- Fender-Rhodes Piano Bass (same exact model that the Doors used) on top of an acoustic piano. It doesn't seem like she is using it, but maybe she gained inspiration from The Doors lol. Edit: The Doors used a '60s model. Piano Basses drastically changed in the 1970s.
Danny Jones-drums, Jeff Jones(RIP)-bass, Harland Williams-organ and Alice Sommers-piano made up the band Montage from Memphis, TN. Montage was Bobby's backup band for 3 years.
I have always been a big fan of Bobby Vee, but he looked terrible with the long hair and beard! I don't know how long that lasted, but fortunately he reverted to his traditional clean cut look with short hair.
