My big brother was a huge Slade fan and was lucky enough to see them several times. He wore his hair and sideburns just like Noddy's. One day he came in looking as though someone had died, when asked he said "Noddy's got pleurisy." He took me to see Flame in 1975.
I know what you mean! I had 3rd row for a Slade/Robin Trower concert when I was maybe 17. I still think to this day that was the cause for hearing loss in my left ear. I am now 67, but I would not trade that experiance for my hearing. Best times!
Was lucky enough to see them at the Forum in NYC. One of my top 5 bands ever!!! Spoke to Lemmy of Motorhead about Slade and he thought the world about Noddy!!!
Lemmy was also a huge fan of Steve Marriott. I ran into him backstage after a Marriott gig at the Half Moon in London in the late 1980s. RIP Steve and Lemmy
I had the Good Fortune of seeing Slade in 1975 they backed up Black Sabbath one of the best and most underrated bands of the 70s I was 18 years old and life was great!!!!!!
They used tracks in these television appearances, though. People think miming/backing tracks is something new, but it isn't: it's as old as television.
@@andrewrobinson2565 Yes, in 1979 backing tracks for concerts weren't easy or typical. When I saw KISS in 1977, Peter Criss sang "Beth" to an obvious backing track, but that was the only one as far as I could tell. Pre-digital technology prevented '70s rock stars from copping out 😁
Fanf#&(%tastic, Slade in Australia, absolutely amazing 4 th February 1973, Melbourne Showgrounds, take me back, a 15 year old and her heroes. Part of her DNA now, Thankyou Noddy, Dave, Jim and Don, for being part of my 67 year old life, I don’t reakon you blokes actually knew how popular you were here, and we will never forget yooz. 🇦🇺❤️
Some people obviously don't realise what a phenomenal band slade were back in the 70s and yes they certainly were a proper rock band who could perform live listen to slade alive then you will hear what a great band they really were plus they had legends who appreciated them live like Robert plant and Ozzy Osborne they know what music is all about sadly some people are narrow minded who don't appreciate great bands like slade fortunately we do and that's all that matters true fans know this band really kicked butt and rocked the house down
@@nathandodge665 Funny, I'm not a 12 year old girl but then I'm not a leftie so I know what a girl is and Slade are one of my musical influences, a hard grafting band in their day!?!
They were a vital part of my earlier years and their impact was huge. If they had not gone off into other tangents such as the skinhead phase, they would likely have conquered America too. Following their acclaimed performance at Donnington, despite essentially having been left behind, I saw them at the Birmingham Odeon, where they almost literally bought the house down. It was a performance that both shocked and astonished the crowd in equal parts. Brilliant. And as for Christmas, it can never happen without Slade and Wizzard.
Slade where a great pop band in a time when there was a lot off top bands and vocalists ,faces, bad company ,led zep, humble pie , who, ther singers noddy , Rod , paul Rodgers, plant, steve marriott, daltrey those boys could sing,
I remember way back in the day seeing the sweet on a Friday night slade on the Saturday night all of the best live music events of my entire life I’m sure I was deaf for nearly a week after
Their eccentricities didn't catch on in the States the way it did in Europe and Britain. That is the great tragedy of this band. They rocked like no other ❤ long live Slade!!!!!!!
Deaf I've gone more than slightly deaf saw slade in 1974 and 1977 what a night the roof nearly come off the gaumont in Southampton nod don Jim and dave blew everyone away it was amazing
Great the Slade were a good time band like the Quo and the Faces very much an English thing carrying on the music hall tradition as such all three bands will remembered in time to come.
When you hear the claptrap about how bad the '70s were, three day working week, power cuts, etc, etc, just remember that Slade was who everyone in the UK was listening to. Bigger than Bowie. It was f***ing brilliant!
Slade were playing as support for the headliners who I believe were Black Sabbath. For some reason Black Sabbath couldn't make it and Slade held the fort LIVE for the whole night. By the end of it, the audience had forgotten Black Sabbath were even supposed to be there!
The very brilliant underated slade .luckily i saw them a few times in Birmingham still love their music must be why im deaf .noddys voice is unique no wonder ac/dc considered him after bin died. Rock on lad's 5:09
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this song by Slade 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RU-vid. 😀
Well there were a few hits from glam rock in the USA but bands like Slade and TRex never took off like they did in Europe . Why ? Noddy Holder and company and Marc Bolan and his band were about a decade too early for the United States
Ain't no way those backup vicals are being produced live. Half the time Dave usnt even near the mic. aleays wondered why some bands on MS c nned it while others brought it live? look up T Rex bang a Gong Midnight Special and compare the difference. now THAT was live
They wore some ridiculous clothing, and Dave's hairstyle was as mad as a box of frogs! Its a good job the music was excellent. I loved the Reeves And Mortimer parody, Slade In Residence ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eWksvwqM3Ok.html
