This is footage of Bobby Younkin's last public performance in his 1939 Harvard 2 (AT-6) at the "Air Fiesta Airshow" in Brownsville Texas on October 23, 1993. He sold the airplane shortly there after to concentrate on promoting his new biplane, "Samson."

I honestly don't think there has been a pilot past or present, that has handled a T-6 more proficiently that Bobby Younkin. This man was in tune with that airplane more than any man or woman who have taken a T-6 into the skies. He had unmeasurable talent behind the stick of a T-6, or any other aircraft he flew, for that matter!

By far, the most impressive AT-6 demonstration I've ever seen. Anyone who has stick time in the plane can appreciate all the work Bobby was doing in that cockpit, and to make it perform like a modern sport plane just messes with my brain.

@Paulinworld yeah I agree that was absolutely nuts, no way in hell would you see even the best fighter pilots today do that.

I met Bobby when we had the Mineral Wells Air Faire, he was very nice. I also met his dad Jim when he came to Mineral Wells to visit Hafe who I was helping. Three great aviators, Jim, Hafe, and Bobby.

I saw Bobby fly this routine in Fayetteville AR back in the late 70's. The video is outstanding, but to witness it first hand is indescribable. Until you see that avalanche flown at low level...you wouldn't believe it done. Bobby's flying was all about energy management and so the grace inherent in his style was second only to his stick & rudder capabilities. And.. he could fly that rolling circle with your RC airplane, just as well! I wish there were more videos of his flying, I wonder..how about posting something from when he use to fly his dad's super Stearman - Goliath! Thanks for posting and best wishes, an old Ozark Flyer.

This plan always holds a special spot for me. When I was 13 my dad got for my birthday a ride along in a bright yellow one. The thing that freaked me out the most was the fact that before the flight they gave me a parachute and instructed me how to use it. The pilot did some basic maneuvers just rolls and a couple of loops but it totally freaked me out at the time. Now Its fond memories.

No one better in a T6; he was the biggest bear in the woods

Who knew a T-6 could do a snap roll on take off? Amazing! At least to me it is.

The flight was great but that announcer needed to be duck taped. He ruined the performance.

This Man's Good,,, Just Watch The "?" ----> "Heading's" or "Heading Stops".... Always Spot On,,, "Always On Point"... Most Aren't... This Man Was Good, As Was "Jimmy Franklin",,,, I've Seen Them Both Numerous Times... When We Lost'em Both At "Moose Jaw",,,, BIG LOSS... Like "Hoover",,, Always On POINT,,,, Never "Sloppy"...
