Jacob Thykær ya it seems to be kind of a horse apiece. . seems similar either way. according to John deer 6 ton and less machines the blade behind you is best, but the 6k to 8k machines are kind of no man's land for the best blade stability. I'll try it out behind me on my next tree dig.

Black Locust is highly resistant to moisture, rot and insects. Orange Osage is another great wood for fence posts. It seems Kapper does not have a lot of mature hardwood in his woodlot. I hope he conserves it and manages it for best growth and future value.

Rubba Dubdub we've got alot of hardwood stands, mostly oak; white, red and black. it was logged some time ago, but I'm slowly working on tsi for the better trees. I figure I can do without 1/10th acre of locust, especially since it's part of the official forestry plan to reduce or eliminate less desirable stuff..

I am glad to hear your woodlot plans and that you have a forestry plan. I have been studying woodlot management for many years and look at woodlands as a rich resource for any landowner. Joel Salatin derives great benefit from his woodlots and to that end has his own bandsaw mill. Culling the less beneficial trees from your woodlot to open up sunlight and soil nutrients for the more desirable trees is a wise choice for your property. You could cut the locust limbs with a chainsaw, split them, and use or sell them as firewood, for your financial benefit. And, its fun-- at least for me.

Good luck on the job. The hardwoods take awhile to pull out (Of course I have about 400 hours under my belt now since this video), the 1 foot bucket is good for busting roots. Hope you feel better!

I haven't tested my new ripper yet, might have to do that today! Depends on what size and how many trees you'll be clearing. Now I have my 2nd e42 and use a 1 foot bucket for hardwoods, but I think that ripper will work much better. Best of luck!

My next video is clearing those trees with the Kioti... Without a grapple!! Its a lot more clumsy, but the 4 in 1 bucket still works! ... Besides, after the beast Bobcat we'll be eating pork n' beans and bread and butter for a long time! lol

Heard you say "Cant wait for 42 horse to come in" I assume you got an e42. And Im sure you know the number "35" and "42" is not horsepower but what the machine weighs in metric tons. Looked like the 35 was doing a nice job anyway. Keep it up!

Not really such a waste as you are saying. A diverse property provides much more habitat for all animals as opposed to just having a block of woods or trees. All of the new growth in areas that are open to the sun provide new forage and browse and cover for smaller animals that did not exist before. We have 120 acres of woods, and new 'edges' as they are called (field edges) provide the best habitat the critters can ask for. Much better than all woods...

@@kapperoutdoors So correct we have 180 acres and we then areas to do just that help the wildlife and let the other trees do better.
