Fum fact: When Negan starts off talking about "losing his voice", that was his own improv as he had done that scene so many times he actually started getting voice cracks.

These videos are great! The Walking Dead is good source material too. 👌 It is a minefield and roller coaster of conflicting emotions at the best of times. As for the man, Andrew Lincoln, your reading of his body language just helps cement what a superb actor he is. His acting and reactions in each situation is really on point and near perfect. Amazing stuff! And you too for your detailed analysis. Bravo!

More interestingly though, what is your reading of Rick's face in this scene, when Negan and his men leaves, and all we see is a close-up of Rick's face and him standing there? It is just before he turns to see Spencer has become re-animated. The camera pans to Rick and you see his eyes are filled with tears, but he is stood there motionless. It is like he is in a state of anger and disbelief, yet helpless at the same time. Would love to know what you think.

Not only one of the most iconic scenes, but as I understand it that scene is the one that convinced the studio that Al Pacino was the perfect casting choice for Michael Corleone, because before they were shown that they thought he wasn't good enough.

So glad I found your channel. I needed something new and mentally stimulating to watch! I’ve tried to consciously look for the subtle cues in body language you describe. It isn’t easy in the moment when you’re trying to focus on your own thoughts and movements. But with constant, conscious awareness, I’m beginning to pick up on the these subtle cues and I’ve been able reroute conversations in my favor. Quite possibly to the surprise of the person I was talking to haha

My favorite scene is just before this when Negan guts the guy. It was so smooth that you couldn't read him until after he did it.

I would like to point out, I don't think Arat (Negan's minion) didn't look at him like that because she was uncomfortable with cutting up Rosita's face and didn't want to do it, she looked at him out of confusion because Rosita herself pushed her own face into the blade, cutting herself.

You do realize that these were the scenes that made Andrew Lincoln walk off set, right. The actor had to scream off the top lungs and kick things around in between takes. I think he left for a while and told directors that he's not coming back. So they killed his character off.

Andrew Lincoln's acting is so good that I didn't need enigma to tell me the meaning behind a lot of his actions. I mean, the acting for his anger suppression is top notch. I just knew he would hack the s*** out of Negan if his group wasn't at risk.

I think you missed another good moment where rick takes a step toward negan and negan leans back smirking while moving his eyes barely side to side tracking ricks movement as if ready for him to throw a punch at him.

People seem to forget just how evil Negan was before where the show is at currently. I hear people defend his actions in the season 6 finale/season 7 premier by saying "well Rick and his group killed a bunch of innocent people at the outpost so only killing 2 seems like a fair trade" The issue with that is those weren't innocent people they were the ones Negan sent to collect/kill if groups couldn't provide. "They killed those people in their sleep though, that's pretty evil right?" Yes but it was a necessary evil. Ricks group knew they were outnumbered and outgunned so they did what they had to do. "Negan only killed when someone broke the rules" also not true. Throughout season 6 we hear tales of how Negan and his men ambushed people and killed one of them before forcing the rest to work for him. We also see him kill Spencer solely for the fact that Spencer said that Rick would betray Negan and that he would be a better more obedient leader of Alexandria. "Negan was just trying to form a semblance of a government to create order in the world again" somewhat true but mostly he just wanted power and ruled as a dictator. Now Negan wasn't as rash and emotional as the governor and that's what made him 100 times more terrifying and evil. He didn't act on emotion he was cool and calculating. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Rick is the only person is not shitting his pants. As it has been proven that they feel exactly how Negan wants them to feel. They feel afraid, and that's what Negan operates on, fear. They think he's unpredictable and all he has to do is say the word, and someone will die.
