She thinks looking meek and small, with bags under her eyes and some gray in her hair, will make her look like a victim of abuse. Powerless against this man and had to defend herself. It’s a lil show.

Can get over the fact Ashley sits at the defense table and looks like an Amish girl looking innocent when she’s heck of guilty I wouldn’t trust her or anything she has ever said about Doug. I so hope she’s found GUILTY

When the daughter is being questioned. The defendants demeanor looks like I am a librarian/ teacher who is fragile. And been stuck in jail looking old drained, looks like she is trying to cry. And when the lawyers go to side bar she changes her face completely. She is guilty

They always get advice on how to look as innocent as possible. It's so obvious that it takes away credibility. Innocent or not. And I do think she was the abuser, from the start... And seeing the clip, she is NOT a victim of domestic abuse. I have been through it, women who experience it do NOT act or speak in this way. She is a manipulator.

I think underneath she is a very devious woman, she must find it difficult to appear without her makeup and undereye concealer because I think she is very vain and loves herself, actually without her makeup she is a very plain-looking woman. It is all an act just for the jury and I think she is guilty of murder.

She looked even more "different" on the day of jury selection. She looked like an Amish woman in her green dress and no make up at all. Her entire body language changed, her shoulders used to be straight, now she is curled in and hunched over for whatever reason.

Her look and expressions are on purpose so the jury feels sorry for her.

I've been troubled by the lack of tears in her emotional expressions of sadness at trial. Lots of facial contortions that mimic crying, but no tears. It's contrived, in my opinion.

Experts think they know what others should think about what they see in someone. What I see with the look and demeanor of Ashley is trying to appear as a traumatized woman and playing on the empathy of the jurors. She looks meek like she was a victim and would never hurt anyone.

These are the small details noticed straight away, and people will react with anger saying, How can you be so sure about it and that it isn't her natural hair or blabla. Think of it this way, she knows thousands of people will be watching her, what woman in her right mind would not have tone her gray strands of hair or removed them when they are sticking out like that?`Would YOU have kept them sticking up like that. I mean it's not subtle at all, they look like lightning strikes in the night ffs. She is a woman with style and normally looks good in all old pictures and take care of her image. Aiella fell for the story that Ashley’s face having slight swelling meant Doug supposedly assaulted her. 🙄. Yes. Michael Aiella stated as if it were fact. Court TV is embarrassing. Ashley had told a cop she’d “do anything” to “protect” her baby. I’m sure there’s a good chance she assaulted herself to get Doug in trouble. But Aiella couldn’t brainstorm that. 🤪. He doesn’t KNOW Doug assaulted her.

Memories of Amber Heard

The camera shots and how they are framed for the Benefield trial make the transmission unwatchable. We rarely see the lawyers during examination and cross of the witnesses and too many shots focused away from action going on in the courtroom.

For a coming episode I'd be curious if the human behavior expert was prompted to analyse Ashley Benefield with regards to *consistency, authenticity and credibility.* This set of factors is not complete by any means, but many jurors are particularly sensitive about manipulative behavior of a defendant. I also disagree that a drastic change of appearance during a trial isn't associated with *a considerable risk of damaging a defendant's credibility.*

Duh! Why change it because any women on the jury won’t respond well to the uppity overly starched defendant almost like showing off. The demure tired sad look she’s trying to accomplish they are trying to gain sympathy. Prob a better approach when accused of planning a murder.

she tailors her appearance by testimony of who is testifying and what may be said will most likely not be favorable to her, on those days she looks weak, sunken & weathered when testimony is more likely to be in favor, she appears put to be strong, confident & together ... she aint slick.
