Dear Dr Mosley So so sad to hear this news You always inspired me as a doctor myself. I am GP in Dubai and it was o 6 days ago that a patient of mine mentioned how they listen to your podcasts and how this has influenced their positive attitudes to a healthy lifestyle. I was always impressed that you made yourself the subject of so many experiments I am truly sad to hear of your passing. And as Dr Alex Roberts says My gosh the fragility of life. I felt his impact here in the US when I ran across his Eat, Fast and Live Longer program. I found success and better health after reading his book, FastDiet, and following it. I was amazed and encouraged when I saw results within a couple weeks using a program that was easy to stick to and made me feel so much better. I continued to read his subsequent books, and even bought a few of his audiobooks. My favorites are those that he read himself, and whenever I needed some encouragement to continue or to reset and get back on the path, I would listen to a chapter or two of one of his books. I often fell asleep listening to his voice. I can't imagine what Clare and his kids and friends are going through right now. I am so very sorry for their loss.

Tragic loss, very sad that Michael Mosley has died. That said, I find it interesting that the events leading up to his death are being spun. At no point from Weds until now was there any mention of an intentional climb. If he intentionally set off on an expedition, why leave his phone behind? Why was his intended route not made clear to rescuers? Why would it have taken this many days to find him? My guess is he had an argument with his wife and stormed off, whether he intentionally ended his life or not, this was not a pre-planned trek.

It's a really sad and tragic end, poor chap. He seemed like a lovely person. He didn't nearly make it though, he over stretched himself in dangerous conditions. No one else should take this risk thinking that he nearly made it. Firstly don't go hiking in extreme weather, if you are absolutely compelled to, then go prepared. He's famous so we've heard about it, but this happens to lots of other people each year.

Very weird death. Was he drunk? No phone? Who leaves far without his phone to take a picture or video. It's not like he was 5 meters away to a bar. He left the place to go to another place leaving his phone with his wife? Weird. And you don't fall just like that from a path. And the helicopter flew there before and they didn't see him but now after 3 days they did find him somewhere where they looked before? Lots of mysteries

*leaving his phone with his wife?* It was at the villa *And you don't fall just like that from a path* There was no path, that's why he fell *And the helicopter flew there before and they didn't see him but now after 3 days they did find him somewhere where they looked before* They didn't search the area at all because they thought he took the short path. *Lots of mysteries* Yes, namely how you felt remotely confident typing all that bullshit

What exactly is the mystery? He left the beach where he and his wife and friends spent the day, saying he wasnt feeling well and wanted to head back to the villa they were staying (located about an hrs walk away from the beach we are told) the route back was through Pedi but he obviously took a wrong turn and ended up in that unforgiving terrain. In the scorching heat i think it is very likely he had heat stroke, got disoriented and at some point just couldnt go any further, he either decided to sit down to rest or collapsed near that fence where he sadly passed away. The search teams and all involved unfortunately focused their search on the route and area they assumed he would have taken when instead he had walked in the complete opposite direction. Not sure why this is so hard to accept as a possible scenario.

A 67 year old man, in extreme heat, losing up to 0.5 litres per hour of fluid. Took a wrong turning, scared and lost and dehydrated. This is a recipe for a heart attack in a 50 year old - never mind someone approaching 70. I once got lost in a strange area. I was 50. The feeling of anxiety and agitation was absolute. It's the loneliest, most scary feeling imaginable. Only the coolest heads prevail. I didn't have a cool head - I navigated back to civilisation by pure dumb luck (or maybe a rare and fleeting moment of mental clarity). Going on walks in strange places, in the midday sun, in Greece (in June) is not a good idea. Not having his phone or some other distress equipment was a terrible mistake. Yes, 200 years ago, plenty people did the same thing, but they took precautions and made arrangements with friends or the authorities, should they not arrive at specific points. I feel very sorry for Moseley's relatives and offer them (FWIW) my sincere condolences.
