The great thing about Dorian Yates is that he literally brought bodybuilding to what it is today, and I think he would have a great chance of winning Mr. O in 2010 if he were to compete with the same physique today
people normally associate muscles with strength, while i think it helps alot being confident you wont get more or less respect for that ( TO ALL YOUNG VIEWERS)
If you pause at :40, I think most judges of old would say that Dorian's lats are way disproportional to the rest of his body and as such, he wouldn't win any Mr. Olympia contest like that. There was a day when size (steroids) and being ripped (dehydrating yourself almost to the muscle cramping stage) wasn't all that mattered. But some will cry "They are taking it to the next level!" Great. I will be watching their lifespans, too. I doubt many will live to be 80.
Bodybuilding yesterday and now...Bodybuilding yesterday and now...Bodybuilding yesterday and now...Bodybuilding yesterday and now...Bodybuilding yesterday and now...Bodybuilding yesterday and now...WE GET THE POINT!!!!!
@HEYIMATANK Nope. It's a fact that if you have two people training hard and ONE is using steroids, they will get bigger SOONER. They also push their body harder with respect to other things like hormone balance and organs and I'm saying if someone DOESN'T want to take steroids to compete, they are at an AUTOMATIC disadvantage. It doesn't matter if roids isn't KNOWN to mess up any organs or such long-term. I think the whole bodybuilding thing is counterproductive if you use roids.
And steroids DONT just make up a small part, it makes a HUGE difference, you dont have to train nearly as hard as someone training naturally to see better gains. So i wish people would stop saying it doesnt help that much. It does thats why its banned in almost all sports. Trust me i know i have friends who take steroids. Ive seen them go from weak skinny guys to beasts benching over 200lbs.
that makes perfect sense. but for me, instead of discriminating on people that use them, i use that as fuel, so i can get better then them, while im doing it clean.. but not everyone thinks that way
Glad I read his comment before watching the vid. I can imagine. Your getting into it, head banging, flexing, thinking "Fuck ya I"m gonna bust some iron like a badaWTF$#@!$@!#
Dorian was amazing, but have you seen the pic's of Jay Cutler from this year's Olympia? OMG, he was phenomenol. I now know without a dobt who the best bb ever is, and his name is Cutler!
@jonbobizal yeah, you should probably watch the dorian yates '93 olympia video. Dorian says himself that he only trains for about 3-4hours a week. Jay cutler does not train everyday, he has said multiple times that he travels on weekends and will not train those days and also will not train on days he gets deep tissue massages. Coleman trained once a day for about 2 hours and most def not EVERY day. This is just Mr. Olympias. Programs like Max-OT, DC, Westside are all short intense sessions.
@StraightEdgeXVegan i mean literally a plethora of things work for a plethora of different people, training intense and eating right is really what matters. If you can hit it hard 4 hours a day, all the power to you, but Yates just did one working set per exercise and got out the gym. And what people fail to realize, the base that is built on these guys was mostly from intense short workouts, only after they had developed and juiced did they start 2 a days. For most of us, short and intense work
@Chaos: Yates's listed as 5'10". Most guys add an inch for 'official' height, so 5'9" is closer to his real height. People shrink as they age, & it's been 14+yrs since his last competition, so he may be 5'8" by now. At his biggest, Yates was 270+ in competition & 300+ off-season.
@Bsnakes Probably the smartest thing I've ever read on this subject on youtube...Waaaay to many people out there with the wrong ideas altogether.Too many people looking for the quick fix and blindly jumping into things they don't understand causing themselves massive sometimes permanent problem.Educate yourselves long before purchasing anything.
@Martano666 thats not what i meant by that. If your bodybuilding naturally that is great. I dont really think using steroids is a good thing but some people seem to think if you use roids you need minimal effort in the gym which isnt true
@edanimer these guys are still alive and well.of course steroids are dangerous and involve risks (most of the times when people abuse them). they are also considered a miracle drug in medicine and bodybuilding it s not the only sport where athletes use them. bodybuilding kicks ass
I've done 3 cycles and it isnt a big deal whats so ever. the worst thing that happened was it was hard to get a good sleep near the end of the cycle. all that test makes it hard to sleep
@swaapo hehe, but it's what you think and i am actualy curious how those muscles really work. is there a real, stable power in them? or will 4-5 hours of hard work, daily work kill their hearts? i am only interested in ppl's reall experiences, not some blind assumptions. only straight data, please. thx :]
It's because using roids is basically cheating because others may not want to do it and therefore it isn't a level playing field. That's why people complain about it, I think.
People that get stuck on steroid use are the ones who would like to use, but are afraid to. People who hate on bodybuilders are the ones who wish they can be that big, but lack the motivation to do it.
@Bsnakes Don´t have to teach me i know how to workout right. ;) I just commented because you´re one of the only youtube persons i ever saw who know how to train, i wasnt asking. :P
@Bsnakes nicely said:) steriods is not a magic drug, people dont know that when your on a cycle its actually twice as hard. you have to train much harder, your diet alot more serious, and eat twice as much and rest. as well as knowledge on PCT, you have to train even harder after a cycle to keep those gains. its alot of effort and hardwork. bodybuilding will always be around for people who find ART in the world of Bodybuilding. the transformaton of ones self
@InferiorThanYou i literally named one, dorian yates. you can find the video. dorian yates 93 olympia, he explains his training. its on his dvd, 1 set per exercise and only 4-5 exercises. trains 3-4 hours a week, if he trains 4 days per week which is probably on the low end, then he trains for less than 1hr per day. and you can rant about how thats only one guy. Well, that 1 guy has 6 sandows. Jason Huh, just turned pro, also keeps his workouts short. It's more conducive to recovery.
@InferiorThanYou well, he said that at the 93 olympia, not in retrospect. jason huh is a brand new pro though. i mean juice helps ya recover and obviously thats whats up in bodybuilding
i mean like sure test is great WHEN you are ON. but people forget to talk about when u are off...the depression, lack of motivation, unable to get a hard on, no sex drive, acne, weight loss etc how do u go with this? what do use for pct..nolva/clomid?
im a 16 year old male who just wants to build muscle i work out 4 days a week for 1 hour i was wondering what would happen if i took steroids 1 time or maybe 2 could someone explain every possible outcome
@wrestlingpanfu unlikely because most successful bodybuilders have Mesomorphic or Ecto-Mesormorphic body types by nature which is usually the average looking, not fat, sometimes skinny and toned kid in childhood.
@TheRealAxelFury That's one case you are talking about. Look. I'm not trying to convince anyone to go out and use steroids at all. All I am saying is that people walk around criticizing 'steroids' as if there is ONE big bad steroid and it will likely have negative side effects on the user regardless of the way it is used. The fact is, there are no studies done. Also, there are 100s of different types of steroids, ALL with different effects. Most people don't know shit but still have an opinion.
@Miamiz24 sure, but how much strength is there in those muscles? would they be able to, i dont know, unload a carriage full of coal? or they are only to show off?
@bigQraz I think you underestimate how many people do not grow well from steroids due to improper nutrition, rest, and training. For certain people, those that train correctly, eat correctly, and sleep correctly, steroids can be a huge help in getting a symmetrical look. For average Joe, biceps curls and bench press, well it's obvious what's going to grow and not grow on him. Yes you grow faster, will agree, but there are a lot of factors. Also, remember steroids are a valuable medicine for some
