********* you gotta remove the bed from the chassis and probably paint it separately. . That's why trucks are more expensive to paint. You gotta keep it the same color if you can't remove the bed. You'll need a crane from harbor freight

Great video very detailed and informative, I'm actually thinking of doing this to my 88 Chevy Silverado but I wanna take the whole truck down to the bare metal any advice on what to use as far as primer, sealer and type of paint. I'm not trying to do anything fancy just going back to the original color but want decent results it would be my first time ever painting a vehicle? This guy Limpy, suggested using an old sawzall blade to knock down bondo . Works better than a cheese grater. Save on some 80 grit , I’m fixing a old beater. Watching you get down, stay grinding. Peace

dammit this was what i wanted to see. I got an OBS tahoe. And im doing all the same, color matching the grill and bumpers and mirrors. Also deleting the sidemolding. So im about to do whatever you do to yours to mine.

Thanks for the video. I have a 99 obs that caught a guardrail. I got the big dent out but it looks like wrinkled notebook paper. Is it the same concept with filler to smooth it out or better find a less damaged door?

How do you get the rust out of the pits? I've got the same trim problem on the next body style up, but I apparently didn't get the rust fullyout.

I gota agree to disagree! Prep is everything but it also depends on how you lay it down . And anything can be polished to perfection .

Never ever use Sharpie in paint prep, it can and does leach through paint layers, especially light colours.

so the steps to get a perfect no dent paintjob is : 1 strip to metal 2 add bodykit to the dents or holes 3 make the bodykit flush with the metal 4 spray a filler prep solution (grunt) 5 spray the paint in 4-5 coats evenly 6 coat the pain in a gloss 4-5 coats 7 grind it down with a 2000-3000 grit 8 polish it 9 - i always get scratches under paint even if i grind it properly and carefully.. 10 im lost please help...

I also love the Raptor Liner. Mainly because it's tintable. And you're also able to clear coat it within a certain window. By changing the air pressure, and not using the splatter gun it comes with, you can achieve a almost matte finish with it and then clear coat it. Even if you didn't do the whole vehicle with it it would make some good over the rail bed liner protection same thing as rock guards on the bottom. As long as it's prepped well, I know people that's had it on their vehicles for 5 years now with no problems. I think it makes for a good combo if people don't want the entire bed liner look, it works good with the paint too . Now if you just want one that is pre-colored and is the strongest out there, get the Durabak brand. It has to work off as it's not mixed with a hardener but is self leveling. You can get a lot of different results from using different brushes. It also comes pre-colored so it can't be exactly color matched. But without a doubt it's the strongest you can buy . They put it on the US Navy's battleships and it's used in the sailboat and boating industry a lot. They make a smooth or a rough version as well. It's actually what I will be coating my truck in since it can be rolled on. With my spine the way it is I can't take all the time to take everything up and spray. I just have to roll a section at a time. It is amazing how self-leveling it is though!
