Most commercial airlines prohibit pilots from cancelling an IFR flight plan, especially in jets like the 737. If you are referring to a visual approach, that is a visual segment of an IFR flight, only available at some airports depending on traffic conditions, terrain (high terrain on this approach) and noise abatement. Usually traffic is the biggest obstacle, they will not allow you to jump in front of another aircraft.
