Another scare in the skies aboard a Boeing jet. A Virgin Atlantic flight to San Francisco from London had to turn back around and make a landing after a windscreen on the jet cracked while the plane was at 40,000 feet.

The tire incident can't be put on Boeing. Tires, wheels, brakes, and bearings, are maintenance items commonly replaced and serviced by ground crews. UNLESS it the wheel was lost from a new delivery aircraft, it shouldn't be blamed on the manufacturer. Boeing has plenty to take blame for without tagging them for something out of their control.

In any event, Boeing doesn't make the windows, and if it was a window defect that would fall on the supplier. Regardless of the best intentions of the MFG there is still a statistical probability that a defect will occur at some point. Mean while, I don’t plan on flying anywhere for a couple of years or more. I would rather drive several days cross country than fly it in several hours. My gut gut feeling is that now is not the time to be flying. Haha… I love a dog pile more than anything on horrible corporations…. but the windshield was probably made by PPG.. and they crack all of the time. I’ve had two windshields shatter on my pressurized aircraft. Like car windshields.. they are triple layered with a middle acrylic layer so it won’t break apart. We took turns with a 10 lbs sledgehammer on an unserviceable windshield from a 737 and none of us could break it in two.

@rl332 27 дней назад
@@aviarage9069 Sure some are due to lack of maintenance. But that doesn't excuse the fact that boeing has been taking shortcuts when it comes to safety. There's a reason why boeing is under investigation and whistlebowers from engineers safety department are coming out. There's an obvious coincidence to the recent number off issues and boeing in general.
@TestingCase31
@TestingCase31 26 дней назад
@@rl332 Please stop. This particular incident has nothing to do with Boeing or the safety of the aircraft being compromised. These kind of incidents will always happen, same way cars will always have flat tires and cracked windshields. The aircraft in this incident is a Boeing 787 which has a flawless safety record and no deaths. It makes zero sense in completely blaming Boeing for a windshield issue when in 2018 a windshield panel on an Airbus completely failed and one of the pilots were sucked out.

@@bg1616 No, that would be almost impossible to blow out a laminated windscreen. The windscreen is secured in a metal frame and the metal frame is fastened to the airframe by at least 50 or more screws which are torqued and retorqued after initial installation.

Boeing don’t make the windshields and windows of the cockpit. It happens more than you think. Due to their multilayer construction, they are designed not to be fully breached when damaged. People should learn more about engineering than just react to the hype. So much more going on in the world that you just let slip by without even batting an eye-lid…………..
