Let’s get this right: this is an Australian project, built by Boeing Australia and with some American input. The project is part of Jericho, which is a part of the Royal Australian Air Force and not the Royal Air Force, which is a British institution. As far as I know, the RAF has nothing to do with it. The project is an AI-based system which is designed to operate _with_ humans and not solely under human control. In other words, the drone has a certain amount of autonomy. The first flight took place on 21 February, 2021.

Why aren't the tailfins partly on bottom side, wouldn't that make it sleek while keeping the radar cross-section small?
@rainofficial1924
@rainofficial1924 3 года назад
I think it follows the line of the wings. Still though, I couldn't understand why the wings and tailfins are over the angled side body surface -top body surface intersection line. 1 speculation I did is there is a new kind of material to absorb waves reflecting from the body to the wings, so they wanted more area to face wawes and absorb more
@normoloid

@@rainofficial1924 Some sort of waffle/wafer structure is rumouredly the best way to absorb radar signals. I bet optical air defense will make acomeback as at least supporting way to detect what's happening in air space
@rainofficial1924
@rainofficial1924 3 года назад
New thought, It is most likely because of the angle difference between the rear side hull and the fins. Fins look like they are angled more so if they were adjacent body reflections could hit the fins. To solve it, they probably put a distance to the starting point of the fin which also changed required torque led them to angle it less and closer to the side body surface

@@normoloid As ai image tracking and cameras become nearly perfect, I wonder what will happen to all those progress we made through the fighter planes. Because if you can track it that well all you need is a laser and a well athmospehere observation to put down that plane. Well, aren't we the demons:) Sure we will find a way. Probably a worse one:/

@@ThatCarGuy YF-23's tail design has less drag and since Loyal Wingman has a similar tail design also contributed to Loyal Wingman's longer range when compared F-35A's 2814 km combat range.
