Beautiful. I need to hit that southwest corner of the park more often. Even though it's a long way from Stewart's.

haha, everything must center around Stewies. Yeah, I'd like to get deeper into the five ponds and do the 20mile high falls loop and maybe even the cranbury 50 and catch some Pike in Cranberry Lake.

I think you should do a video where you go over your favorite adirondack resources. I'm heading up there this year and have been collecting the maps I need like the Adirondack paddlers map and paddlers guide. However, i cant find any videos or written reviews that offer pictures of those two resources and talk about them in detail and why they're better or worse than other maps. For example, your "close up" series map has Portage lengths and other maps dont. That's a selling point.

call st. regis outfitters. They produce the best paddlers maps that include campsites and portage lengths. I sometimes have a nat geo map and a mytopo map but they aren't necessary for canoe travel on most locations.

I love spending time on the BRF -- it's becoming an annual tradition for me ;) How heavy is that canoe? I've been looking at the Oswegatchie Traverse for a few years now and I'm wondering if I should just rent a lighter craft for my trip because of the long carry between Big Deer and the Oswegatchie.

Beautiful area for sure. Mad River Explorer in Kevlar is about 54lbs but it balances nicely. The portage is fairly level and wasn't much of a fuss at all to cross but the weather is comfortable and there were no bugs at the time. Either way, make it happen, it's a beautiful trip!

Although Crocs are comfy, isn’t it a little risky stepping on something sharp? Not to mention that they can be like wearing ice skates on rocks? I’d wear them every day so I get wanting to wear them all the time! Lol!

Perfect canoe camping shoes..just bring a fresh pair with traction. They do great on the portage trails. No worries.

How long did you paddle from the start before you reach your first camping spot? Also, I have a kayak, would the cart be suitable for portaging? How much was the shuttle service? Great trip.

To the end of bog river flow and camped in grass pond.. maybe 6 hours. You can carry or roll the short portage in bog river flow if that is your question. I suppose you could roll the portage to the oswagatchie but I would reccomend going light. I dont remember the shuttle cost but it has likely changed anyway since the trip.

Nice video! Did you use a bear hang or canister ?
@NatureIntoAction
@NatureIntoAction 2 года назад
Bear hang wherever possible. One camp spot wasn't easy on the Oswagatchie with dense and low spruce. More worried about rodents anyway.

@@NatureIntoAction im trying to learn overnight camping in adks. Thanks. Do you really have to eat and cook 150 ft from tent or no?
@NatureIntoAction
@NatureIntoAction 2 года назад
@@tdg223 It all depends on your location. You would need to follow protocol at the High peaks and possibly even be required to have a bear canister. Most of the ADK designated campsites that I use have a fire pit within 150 feet of the camp here disc. and the lean-to sites all have them like 5 feet from the platform. I don't worry about bears at all when canoe camping. I do carry a whistle and lighter on a necklace but no bear spray or bells.
@tdg223
@tdg223 2 года назад
@@NatureIntoAction ok thanks! I stay out of the high peaks, I like the tupper lake area ect, so if its a dedicated campsite, i can eat near my tent or at least at the fire pit? Been a day hiker for a long time , want to overnight but just so overwhelmed!
