Trent Does stuff Yeah well, I goofed. I was thinking more of the other divisions of woodwinds. I'm still looking for the invisible violin elves hiding in there somewhere.
If you look really close throughout the video the really really small saxophone are the highest ranged saxophone so those are the ones that sound like other instruments but if you have all the saxophones from the biggest to the smallest you can pretty much mimic the whole band like they're doing here really cool how you can do that with just one instrument
Thing that always gets me about this video... All the members are moving around, having a good time--the Bari dancing in the middle is great! ... Then there's the Contra player who can't move because his instrument rests on the floor :D
I was listening to this with my earbuds in and my eyes closed, and I teared up some. Saxophone is such a beautiful instrument, and I'm so thankful that I was blessed with the opportunity to play it when I joined band in middle school. I aspire to be at least half as skilled as these brilliant musicians.
The sax is SO underappreciated in classical music....sad and definite lose for classical, cuz the sax makes so beautiful a tone, no matter which sax it is. I played a little alto and tenor sax in my younger days but never did the instrument any justice.
This reminds me of the time I once played the alto saxophone in a band that had a violin in it and what surprised me the most was how the alto saxophone and the violin sounded so similar. I would assume that a saxophone even higher than an alto saxophone would sound even more like a violin.
I'm a Trombonist, I don't have much taste for the sound of a Sax (due to its dominance in popular music over the decades) but this is euphonious and soothing to listen to.
A million years ago, I had a friend with a recording of a Swiss sax orchestra from the 20s that I've never forgotten. Now I know I wasn't hallucinating. It's real and it's beautiful.
That was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard I really wish I could afford to own my own baritone sax man do I miss playing that thing you guys and gals are amazing would kill to be in your group
Who would have thought that the Saxophone is such an amazing musical instrument, what a range of notes. Also, it's only the release of Freddie Mercury's film have I begun to appreciated how talented a musician and writer he was. Nice to see the co-ordinated dance movement to the song - reminds me of the Shadows 'Walk'.
This was so amazing it brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely magical. So much talent and hard work went into this. God I miss playing my sax in an ensemble
IKR? Our instrument is so under appreciated. I know this guy, and when I told him I play the Tenor he says "Wait, IT'S A FAMILY!?" And I hate those stereotyping trumpet players.
Best thing to trump any trumpet player is to show your skills on Sop, Alto, Tenor and Bari then tell him they're all different! Then watch him try play the trombone.
