100% Gil! This gear, as you said, excels in hot, humid weather and great as an under-layer under non-armored jackets, flannels and rain gear. This Bohn CE level 2 Armored Riding Shirt is way better than a low to no-breathability textile jacket in Hot/Humid weather, especially when riders tend default to not to wearing any protection at all. We see it all the time. T-shirt, jeans and sneaks on track ready Sports bikes. Yet these same folks will spend good money on name brand motorcycle performance gear only abandon it in the heat of summer but never miss a beat wearing it in the cooler months. This shirt fits you like Thanos! I have a hunch you’ll be choosing this over a hot textile in July/August. 😅 I could be wrong. No matter the design or intended purposes of motorcycle Super Slab Adventure, eye watering speed freak Sports, Touring, Cruisers, Trikes. They all carve canyons and gitty-up to speeds. We are free and with faces in the wind. We are unprotected. You know better than most Gil. ATGATT. It’s not just an acronym. Ride safe and ride often. Morning G, I purchased an aftermarket shirt like this, and the airflow is amazing. I use it for my chill rides when I plan on taking it easy or on a long tour. If a spirited ride is on the books, then I dress the part for sure. One of the benefits of being a gear-whoar is that you got gear for all occasions 😊

I have had the Bohn armor air shirt for several years now wear it in hot humid weather here in Missouri great airflow armor is great I have the hi viz orange and black size large

I’m waiting for a Helite H Moov airbag, I think this is the perfect base layer for it minus the back protector. Great review, thank you

Hey Gill ! Fantastic review! Totally honest and fair. Like you said, it a compromise. I see this being used under a leather or good textile jacket with the original jacket armor removed. I believe the Bohn body armor will stay in place better than original jacket armor. Then I see it being used on extremely hot days when it's challenging to where any jacket. Of course it's not going to provide the same slide protection as a good quality jacket but it's going to beat the hell out of a T-shirt any day. I was wearing a similar product from Klim this past November when I t-boned a car who had run a stop sign. I was wearing an extremely light weight nylon down jacket over it. The back and arms of the jacket were shredded but I had nary a bump or bruise on my arms or back. Frankly I was shocked at how well the armor worked. Btw I have the summer weight Bohn pants and absolutely love them. They have a ton of armor and are almost invisible under jeans etc. During my accident my knees and legs got torn up a bit. You want to know why? It's because I got lazy that day and didn't wear my Bohn pants. Torn up legs and broken tailbone was the result. Bohn now also makes a very light jacket with chest armor. That may be my next purchase. Their customer service is simply over the top. They sent me two sets of pants and I sent one back on their dime. I am a huge fan of Bohn. Last but not least....it's pronounced Bon....Bone. :)

I can't find anything on the abrasion residence. It has good armor and good coverage but is it a, aa, aaa certified? If only armor I would need to add a top layer to feel safe personally. I know this is cheaper but if I need a top layer for abrasion then that adds to the price. Was looking at this vs panda moto and Knox that have mesh but aa or aaa options whiles having mesh as well . Great review though!

Good review. I’m a gear nut for sure, and I have the Bohn Armor shirt. The shirt for me is only useable with an outer jacket, by itself it may not survive the abrasion of a slide as you and others have observed. My go to has been my HitAir jacket (Helite is another brand) and I pair it with their chest protector (they have two types, as well as back armor). Upper torso protection is lacking on most jackets (in my opinion) because of the lack of chest protection. My HitAir mesh waist jacket has been the best so far that covers nearly all the bases, and is comfortable in warm to hot weather.

If you dont have abrasion resistance it is useless gear.
