Thanks Aaron. Hope there is a longer video of finding the leaks, and then the process of fix and repair. It always helps when the Operating Department can leave things leaking until the leaks are found, and then take things O.O.S.
I hope it had some time to cool down I remember those days. Even a Christmas one year I was on a 20 hour repair keep finding leaks. Hope your pressure squeeze goes as planed.
No it was a little warm yet but it was manageable and no first squeeze didn’t go as planned found another leak but after fixing that 2nd hydro went good!
I can't quite picture the layout. Are you in the burner area? With lights and a crane (guessing) seems odd to be on a boiler area. Need a shower showing a few of these glorious working environments

BTW, I have a grandson 3+ years into a trades apprenticeship and gently nudging another one in that direction; Would you consider making a vlog about promoting the impending need for skilled trades people and how to get started. I know you are not the preachy sort but the average electrician in the US IS 56 YEARS OLD RIGHT NOW so the need is real and there are training paths available to EARN WHILE YOU LEARN. I think you could speak to a wide bunch of young folks sort of adrift and thinking that shaking fries at McDonald's is their only choice in sight. What do you think???
Hey Bud did some welding today. Trying to burn In 6010 with a 110 welder is a joke. My 110 mig welder didn't do much better. 3/16 steel. 70 Amp on stick welder. Had to keep my stick against the steel to keep an arc.
not sure which is worse, welding patches inside a boiler or welding patches on a pipe full of crude oil 160 feet above shark infested waters. At least the oil filled pipes they were welding over weak spots found by continual scanning of the pipes with x-ray machines before they burst. My long time friend that did this wished they would shut the pipe down during the weld, but nope full bore ahead thousands of gallons of highly ( explosively ) flammable crude oil going through every minute.
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 high stress welding on the rigs, really high stress. one mistake and massive explosion, icy cold water or shark infested water below. Alcohol addiction is a common thing because of it.
Interesting I have never been in a power plant as fitter and seen the inside of one of these boilers. I was a service fitter for 35 years. We have one big one 2238 kw coal plant and 5 smaller ones around the Twin Cities area and 2 Nucs one north and one south on the Mississippi river. They have been converting the smaller ones to Natural gas. One nuc 1000 mw the other is 650 mw.
Hey Kirt yeah they are doing the same thing here converting coal over to natural gas so I’m scared the price of electricity and natural gas is going to sky rocket
What's up bro. Just a question for you isn't there like miles of tubing in there? I use to be around a lot of plants across the country installing wear resistant ceramics in the fan housings, crossover pipes, pulverizers, etc etc I am sure you know what I'm saying lol was just curious how much piping is in there for some reason 26 miles sticks in my head.
Yeah all the patch work on the cab was aluminum I just don’t weld much of it I don’t like it, it draws way to much well I mean on thinner gauge vs mild steel
A lot less heat at the bottom so the heat up top makes everything more brittle I wish they would be at the bottom and yeah the only way is from the bottom up
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 Hey you are right did not even think about that. I work with some direct and indirect heaters, water knock outs and glycol gas water stripper units in oilfields. Also did some pipe fitting work in an oil refinery. Called a turn-a-round, they shut down sections, in stages. Then its all hands on deck to repair/replace, rebuild all worn or hazzard equipment. Remove and rebuild, safety relief valves and recertify them! All work had to be inspected and signed off by three persons and you had to sign, tag your work on the parts for the records. So they could cone back on you if anything went wrong! I had to do a lot of work under mask, because of H2S and other gases. As well as do the high work, atop the distillery units. Was nerve racking. I would have the biggest crain working with me to lift parts. And the whole area of workers would all stop and watch us hanging/ working on top!

I have a steam drum that we are starting on Monday I’m doing the pre heats and PWHT on unit 1 up in the pent house at seminal electric in Florida then of to Port Saint Lucie nuclear power station for a 3 month outage
Oh boy!!! Steam drum fun fun I always hated pulling all the pans and trays out of them lol just did a full rebuild on one about a year ago rolling tubes and welding them off
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 Have you worked on any of the solar steam units? Those remind me of my kid days with a magnifying glass, using the focal point to catch the sticks and grass blades on fire, except they use mirror arrays pointing at the steam tower. I suppose the principle is the same as coal plants except the heat source is the sun.
