Showing the Mod to replace the release button spring on the Boker Kalashnikov - 74 Automatic Switch blade knife.
In my oppinion, The original equipment spring is too weak and causes opening issues as well as too much blade slop at the lock when open. I own more then one of these knives, and they all have this issue. This "How-To" Video shows how to correct this issue.
To anyone who might be concerned: I want you to know that I am not trying to say anything negative about the Knife - IT IS A VERY NICE KNIFE! Excellent quality for the money as it comes out of box - I have no regrets in purchasing it. I am just very picky (Anal) and I like my knives to be as perfect as I can make them. So I just can't leave things well enough alone - here in an example...

THANKS! had a cheap russian switchblade that i lost the spring for a could not find a replacement. Took apart a pen and voila! Cant believe it fit perfectly after adjusting the length. Great idea thanks again.

Great mod.Glad to know they can be tuned up.Giving some of these Bokers for christmas presents.The long gun guys are gonna love the case it comes in. lol My Al Mar auto hits like a champ but wouldnt dare use it as an everyday driver.These are so nice for the price!Thank for the info!

Hmm(?) I've had this type of knife for some years now and I never had any issues with mine - no play and strong enough spring. Nice mod nonetheless:)

What is the actual size of the spring? Cause I'm seeing replacement springs that say 7/16 , 3/8 , and 1/2. Which size are you using, or would it really matter?

How does making the button tighter affect the blade in any way?

The blade it held by that tapered button. If you own the knife you can take it apart and see.

I have 5 now, all nice and most have a very strong snapping spring except one. Does anyone know where to get the springs shown in this video?

Seriously, you didn't hear me say you would need a ball point pen, then remove the spring from a ball point pen, trim the spring with wire cutters as shown.

The spring is just to release the blade it has nothing to do with tightening it up come on man see that big screw right there in the middle of the night at the top that’s the one you want to tighten your Blakes lose
