Listen to a Bokmakierie pair duetting. They are a type of shrike named after their call which sounds like 'bok-ma-kierie'. They were named that by the French explorer/ornithologist that came out to Southern Africa in the late 1800s and early 1900s. These birds have a very wide repertoire of sounds and duets that they make. To me each pair seem to have their own version of the duet and there is also a wide variation in calls in each region they are found here in Southern Africa.
