Mijn eerste singel die ik ooit voor mijzelf kocht. Ik kan mij de winkel nog herinneren (al jaren weg) en hoe ik als 13 jarige misschien in de bakken alle singles bekeek voordat ik deze kocht en hem thuis grijsdraaide en de tekst las. Mooie tijden voor wie van goede en veelzijdige muziek houdt.
I'm only here by accident. I was remembering having watched a movie on tv in the 70s called, I think, The Last Apache, and this is what I found. Obviously it was not a movie. But it could've been a theme song for a movie of that name, right? So I clicked, and listened, and, uh, wow, people, this is TERRIBLE. Dutch pop music? That's no excuse. So was Shocking Blue ("Venus"). And IIRC they were one of several cool Dutch pop groups who were on the scene at the same time. This is simply awful. I do find it interesting, and maybe even a bit ironic, that those musical elements that were written into this product followed the same certain set of pop stereotypes such that it SOUNDED like a (made-for-TV) movie theme. Even the lyrics laid out a scenario that was a formula for a lousy (but still profitable if its budget was low enough) movie. [A note on my use of the word "product" to refer to this song: That's exactly the correct term for something that's made for no other reason than to be merchandised. This is not art. It's commerce. Of course, the musicians have to make a living, and therefore they all have to find their own comfort level with the degree to which the art is sacrificed for the sake of commerce, or vice versa. But this is so formulaic (and even at that, there are plenty of formulae available that do not completely ignore artistic integrity) that the art was left out completely. It sounds like it was written by the accounting department at the record company. Hence the term, "product".]

Where were you when I needed you? Lol! I took the help from Web experts and found the song about a year ago (it was absent from RU-vid). I had to hear it from 1976. I could never believe it was a Bolland and Bolland song...
